What are all the important songs/music at your wedding?

Mrs., on March 24, 2019 at 11:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Thought it'd be fun to see all your music choices! What are the songs you and your FS chose for your wedding day and why did you pick it?

Processional (everyone else): Maybe 19 You and Me by Dan + Shay, if I don't choose to have us all walk down the same song together.

Processional (bride): If You Ask Me To - Mackenzie Porter. I love the pace of the song, music is beautiful, and I love the lyrics when it says: "tie me a circle from a piece of string, and I will wear it as your ring. No there ain't nothing I wouldn't give to you, if you asked me to."

Recessional: Forevers Gotta Start Somewhere - Chad Brownlee. We're going to start the music when we have our first kiss exactly when the lyrics say "This could be the first night of the rest of our lives" and it's just a fun and upbeat song to walk back down and celebrate!

Grand entrance/first dance: FH is picking this one and surprising me with his choice. We're going to walk in to the intro of the song and begin our first dance right away.

Father Daughter Dance: Dance With My Daughter - Jason Blaine. I think it says it all in the title of the song, heh

Mother Son Dance: FH is still deciding, but he's thinking about Boys II Men - A Song for Mama.

Cake Cutting: Haven't even started to think about this one!

Reverse Anniversary Dance (we're doing this in place of the tosses): Might need 2 songs so I was thinking of starting with his grandparents' first dance song from when they got married to honor their marriage as the longest marriage in attendance that night. If they don't remember their song, then probably Don't Blink - Kenny Chesney. And if that song ends before all the married couples get added to the dance floor, then we're going to play Love Like Crazy - Lee Brice.

Last dance: Just started brainstorming this one! Not sure if we want to end on a slow or fast song.

I love all the songs you've chosen too! Are you doing a dance with someone else instead, or just playing the father daughter song?

I love the variety in your music choices. And how could I have forgotten Shout?! That is such a wedding song and I'm going to have to add it to my open dance playlist. And your last dance made me think of relevant last dance songs. Perhaps Closing Time by Semisonic. "Closing time, you don't have to go home but you can't stay here" haha

That's beautiful to play a song to honor your dad but to still dance with the important men in your life too!

•Recessional- I HAVE NO IDEA YET!
•Father/daughter dance- a song my dad wrote for me when I was 5.
•Mother/son dance- Then they do, by Trace Adkins (I don’t like country music, but fiancé does!)
•First dance- The wedding song, by Matthew Mole
•*Instead of a bouquet toss, I plan on giving my bouquet to the longest married couple after having a dance to narrow it down* - Say Something, by Dan and Shay

We haven’t chosen all our music yet, but I do know our father/daughter dance will be “Ain’t No Moutain High” that’s my dad’s song he requested lol
I’m still deciding on our first dance song, walking down the isle song, bridal party introduction, and mother/son song (but I’m thinking it’ll be “My Girl”)
    Huge Motown fans! ❤️

I also included song request cards for our guests in the invites so we can play their jams too, plus it’ll give me some good ideas for songs to play during those special moments.

Processional (we aren't having a WP, but we want a different song playing for our kids when they are seated) "A Thousand Years" - Christina Perri Groom - NO IDEA!Bride - Pacabel's Canon in D
    Recessional - CAN'T DECIDE!
Father/daughter dance - Probably won't do this, my Dad passed away in 2005, and I wouldn't really want to dance with anyone else during that time.
Mother/son dance - I really, really doubt that FH's Mom will want to dance, but if she does they can choose this song!First dance - Still deciding, but MAYBE "Love Someone" by Lukas Graham or "Grow Old" by Florida Georgia Line.Introduction Song - ??????
Garter Toss - FH is insistant on this tradition, so he can pick the song! LOLCake Cutting - We won't have a particular song playing.Last Song - NO IDEA!

Processional (everyone else): I'm still on the fence about this one. It might be classical (Prokofiev), it might be Over the Rainbow, or it might a a lyrical version of where the wind bows. Or Little Help From my Friends by the Beatles

    Processional (bride): Greensleeves

Recessional: Seasons of Love from RENT

Grand entrance: I really want to skip this... I'm thinking that the wedding party will already be seated in the ballroom and we can welcome everyone in.

Cake Cutting: You're my Best Friend by Queen

Mother Son Dance: FMIL said Hush... I'm not sure who it's by.

Father Daughter Dance: Beauty and the Beast, the Celine Dion version

First dance: Africa by Toto immediately dropping into Tsunami (the techno song).

Last dance: Not sure yet, might be Let it Be, Hallelujah, or Imagine.

Loving your RENT choice for the recessional!

I'm skipping the grand entrance for the wedding party since that is my least favorite part of the reception. Even more than I dislike the tosses tradition. But we're still going to have ourselves be introduced in so we can walk in and begin our first dance immediately. Are you planning on already being at the reception by the time it's set to start?

The processional can be the same song for everyone, like you can share a song with your bridesmaids and everyone else, or you can pick a different song for each group, or just have your song be the only different one. I think it's your choice! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do, because I really want the full song playing, but I'm also worried the song won't be long enough for everyone.

Mainly commenting to follow for ideas Smiley smile as we're very undecided on most of these.

We are having a catholic ceremony so I think processional/recessional need to be traditional.

First Dance- rest of our lives (Tim McGraw & Faith Hill) or How long will I love you (Jon Boden version)

Father/Daughter- My Wish (rascall Flats) (but still undecided)

Mother/Son- Letting them decide but recommended (You'll be in my heart phil collins, I hope you dance leann rhymes)

Cake Cutting - Hit me with your best shot (pat Benatar, I plan or smashing it and will not mind at all if he does too LOL)

Anniversary Dance - It had to be you Harry Connick Jr.

I love Rest of Our lives, but FH hates that song for a reason I can't comprehend. And he hates Rascal Flatts too apparently, but I love both of those songs you're considering!
