Well wishes from "the divorced"!

Patrice, on April 16, 2012 at 9:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

I hate to give'em a title but it irritates the mess out of me when newly divorced men/women say "well I hope your marriage last longer than mine". It's very sarcastic and they don't really mean it. For once I want a divorcee to come up to me and say "these are the things I wish I/we would have done to make it work".......ugh!

I wish my ex-husband wasn't such a liar and a fake. *smiles* Don't do that! ALWAYS be honest!!!!

Then my marriage might have made it to 12 years. But I'm happier now and I hope you are as happy as I am too! No matter what happens in your life, it could be worse, you WILL be fine and if you forgive each other it will work. Just don't forgive and lose your self!

That's from this "divorced" girl who is happy she stood up for her self once.

This is the third post on here (in a row) that I've read that involves rude people...WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?! WHO DOES THAT?! Smiley smile I just cannot believe all of the rude people out there...they just don't think.

I agree...it would be nice for them to say what you said (here's what I would have done).

I am divorced and now getting married again. The only thing I can advice is not to RUSH into a marriage. I knew my ex husband for 6 months and got married. This time round I have been with FH for over 2 years...

I wish you best of luck with your marriage!

Tell me about it, I had a supposedly good friend of mine who got divorced a few weeks before my engagement. I texted her along with all my girls saying "guess who is getting married" She did reply with "Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" There were more exclamation marks though, LOL. But since then I have not heard from her, I invited to my housewarming and engagement parties, and no show. Obviously she is not invited to the wedding, her lost.

Yah I totally hate the divorcees saying "sure you wanna do that" etc, and sarcastic good luck.

One lady at my work seriously weighed like over 600Lbs, her husband cheated on her and took her for 1/2 her cash. Sad but seriously if I go from being 120 to 600LBS I don't blame my husband for straying.

I do'nt need good luck, I need to not let myself go or become a naggy bitch.

I have two ladies at work who are doing that to me. But they add "well, everyone should try it once I guess". Ugh.

Yea its hard, divorce is hard and im watching a friend go through it. However Future Mrs. Franco, you said "her loss" but did you ever think that maybe the divorce is really hard on her and being around a bunch of happy people is tough when her marriage is crumbling? I've been extra sensitive to my friend going thru it, cause she is in my wedding, and I know for her its very painful. She IS happy for me, but its hard cause it makes her think of her own and that makes her sad. Regardless its JMO. However, the people who have been divorced for a while SHOULD be a bit less synical (sp?) and maybe offer advice to new couples... MARRIAGES CAN WORK, and its sad when they act like its not worth it...

I know, right! So many people, whom I've never even met, have told my FH "Don't do it, man. They change after you get married!" or "It's a mistake, but a mistake everyone's gotta make." What ever happened to "best wishes"?

Yep, I've people ask me why am I doing it again? somebody said didn't you just get divorced. My divorced friends or ones who've never been married have been good so far. I do feel like I have a better understanding of myself now than I did before. I can honestly look back and see my part in the fallout of my first marriage. Before, I was on a time line, had to be married by a certain age. Gave the ultimatum, marry me or we break up. I look at that now and shake my head. After my divorce, I took time to rediscover myself. So, yeah, I am ready to get married in 11 days!!
