"welcome to our wedding" sign? Or Welcome only

Jacqueline , on June 5, 2018 at 1:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 12
Hello! I'm interested in getting a "welcome" sign for my reception.

These are the facts.

I'm getting married at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Our ceremony and reception are at two different venues. Soon after we'll proceed to the reception located about 15 miles away from the church. I do not have a lot of time at the church since there will be a "quinceñera" prior to my wedding. And "confession" soon after. With trying to rush I'm not sure if this is a good idea..

My dilemma is trying to figure out how many "welcome signs" should I have. I originally thought of having only one "welcome sign" for our reception. But soon after looking through Etsy and Pinterest I got realized the welcome signs say ""welcome to our wedding"" and now I'm not even sure if I should get a "welcome sign" at all..

A. Get a "Welcome to our wedding" sign and place it outside the church?

Or

B. Get a "Welcome to our beginning" sign Jacqueline and Hernán 07. 07. 18. And, I can't word it "Welcome to our wedding" because this will be our reception. Any ideas would be much appreciated...

I got a welcome sign but chose not to have any words related to wedding on the sign so that I could use it in my home after the wedding. But if you choose to have "welcome to our wedding" that is fine if you use it for both the ceremony and then the reception because most people think of both events as "the wedding."

I'm doing just a "welcome" sign with our family name. It's a custom made wood sign from etsy. You could contact the seller and ask them to word it a certain way. My plan is to use the sign afterwards in our home. We have an enclosed entrance way that I'll hang it up right at our front door.

Our wedding was the same set up as yours and we did not have a sign at the church. We had a sign at the entrance to our reception that said “Welcome to the best day ever” with our names and dates and I loved it!! My advice would be to keep the ceremony as simple as possible - there is so much going on in that moment that you honestly won’t even notice the details. I didn’t even see my flower pew ends bc I was so wrapped up in the moment!

We are having the same kind of wedding as you. We will have a Welcome to Our Beginning sign at the reception and a Welcome/Program sign at our ceremony.

I also had a Catholic wedding followed by a reception somewhere else. I had a sign that said "Welcome to the wedding of x and y, date" at the church. I then asked one of my good friends who was not in the bridal party to grab it and take it to the reception as soon as the ceremony ended since she wouldn't be sticking around for pictures at the church. It worked great!

Both my daughters are doing the same and will not have welcome signs at the church. We're keeping the church decor at a minimum due to time constraints with confession and Saturday mass starting shortly afterwards. I wouldn't worry about the wording so much. The whole day is your "wedding" IMO.
