I was planning on having my wedding on a Wednesday which I already book my venue for. Some reasons I choose the middle of the week was because of the potential guest list. To cut down the number I thought having it on a weekday would help. I have some guest bringing their kids and school would be out for the Summer by then. Also I have a few relatives who will be driving in. My Uncle is a new pastor and though its almost a year from now says has to get back by early Saturday. Do you think its wise and feasible to have the wedding during the week.

So, when you polled all your FB friends, you were aware hopefully that it could be interpreted as a verbal invite? That's how I would see it, if I was asked what my preferred day is to attend a friends wedding. I'm hoping everyone that you polled is on the guest list!

Open Bar with 5 course meal. Yes they are all ppl who would potentially get an invite.

Nice hosting, DeAndres. I'm a little confused with your explanation that all those who were polled will "potentially get an invite". Potentially means "a possibility of becoming something" -- in this case, a guest.

For anyone else planning a mid-week wedding, the other ladies have made some good points. There are certain considerations that go with mid-week weddings.

If you are having a Monday - Thursday evening wedding, every guest will know (they will never say it, but they'll know it) that you chose that day to save money. I can't blame anyone for making that decision. Today's weddings are the equivalent to house down payments. Some of your guests -- probably quite of few of them -- will look around at this massive guest list (and yes, 200 - 300 guests is a very large wedding) and realize that you have kept the guest list high and the venue/catering cost far lower than it would have been if you had hosted hundreds on a Saturday. If your guests are faced with a cash bar or a dry bar, they will not be happy. If they are not served a substantial meal, they will not be happy.

Again, read the Worst Weddings Ever thread (not that I'm implying that any middle of the week bride is hosting a worst wedding ever). On that thread, you'll read about couples who invited hundreds of guests and absolutely failed in the hosting department. I still remember the large wedding that featured Arby's roast beef sandwiches and curly fries. Who in the hell does that when hundreds of guests are leaving envelopes and gift boxes?

You're saving quite a bit with a mid-week wedding. Make sure your guests share some of that financial benefit.

ETA: DAndrea is hosting five courses and an open bar, so I had to edit out any questions directed at her regarding her hosting.

I'm a little concerned about this wording: "Yes they are all ppl who would potentially get an invite." By polling them about what wedding date works for them, you have basically invited them to your wedding. From an etiquette perspective, POTENTIALLY should no longer apply.

I photography many mid week wedding on wednesdays and thursdays. Although they are typically Jewish weddings for the orthodox that observe the sabbath. Why not go with it if it works for you and your family!
