Wedding Wire Review System

Hello all,

I'm venting a little. Is it just me or is the Wedding Wire rating/reviews of vendors system messed up? If you try to give a negative review, from what I've heard and seen, it almost always gets taken down. Some people have had serious nightmares and aren't allowed to post about it! The only way it will stay up is if you are mostly positive, but say some things that could have been better. But not all experiences are mostly positive!

It's getting on my nerves, because I feel it's giving vendors a better reputation than they should have. That's why I always check Yahoo reviews and any other reviews on the vendor that I can. Annoying!!

@Matt- I dont' think that's the greatest method of proving someone was a client, since after all how many people keep copies of their contracts after the wedding is over? I guess if I thought the service was atrocious I might be willing to do that but I was very happy to get rid of all that annoying paperwork.

I prefer where the vendor can respond to the complaint as opposed to just taking it down. As MelissaMarie says, soemtimes seeing how a vendor responds to a nasty client is very telling.

Absolutely, I prefer to be posted on sites that a rebuttal is offered for a vendor. Having a one sided review isn't fair, as someone else said, there are two sides to a story, but keeping cool under pressure is what elevates the exceptional!

@ yadayada - True. I guess once everything is delivered, for all intensive purposes the client is done with the paperwork. However it really comes down to the only thing that substantiates the reviewer. Otherwise it is just one of the other xx billion internet users. You could make the vendor provide it, but it could just as conveniently been "lost" so they never did business with the person. Not a problem I've ever been faced with. Smiley smile

This post is so juicy. Haha, love it.

Cabell, I totally agree with your post about it being psychological. In fact, I'm anticipating the glowing reviews I intend on posting. Smiley smile

However, I think it's important to be realistic which is why I love a balanced review. Not everything can be perfect right? And not everyone's idea of perfect is acruate. What if you want your pictures taken very quickly so you have more time for your reception? You would be ANNOYED with a photographer that really labored over each shot? Maybe even if then turned out great. Reading this thread has made me realized I should try to be very factual about my reviews (how long, how much) and why I liked my vendors (or not, hopefully liked though!).

Yeah, I think so, too. I have finished with a couple of vendors (dress, invites, etc) so I have started writing reviews. Since I can't post them I'm just saving them in my notes section for that booked vendor. That way I'll remember the things that were important to me in that moment. I'll have to re-read them to see if I'm still in that space with that vendor.

Elizabeth: Totally! Specific facts and explanations are the most useful thing you can provide, for exactly the reason you give.

MrsJoseph: Oooh, good idea. I should do that, too.

A lot of places let you rate reviews as "useful," but I do sometimes wish that there were a button to press for "this person has no idea what they're talking about." :p For example, I was looking at buffets in Vegas for the day-after brunch on Yelp.com, and I found a review of the Bellagio where the reviewer complained that the "king crab legs made my lips itch." She gave them a really low rating because apparently she didn't understand that SHE HAS A SHELLFISH ALLERGY. True story, ladies. o.O

Mrs. Joseph, that is an excellent idea. I welcome all comments regarding my services. How can I improve if I don't realize I'm doing something wrong? It is best to write down the feelings while they are fresh in your mind.

Cabell, you bring up a great point on the human psyche! I never thought about it that way!

I think sewicob may have had the review removed because the wedding hadn't occurred yet and the system somehow allowed it to go through. They run checks on those reviews and it may have been caught by their balancing system. She probably felt that it was because the review was negative, but that was not the case. There have been many vendors on our board that have complained about a bad review existing on their page; they have flagged it for WW to check and it's still there.

I haven't really seen any evidence of this either. One of the reasons why some reviewers may only have one review listed is because vendors send invites to their clients and some just fill out the form without making an account.
