Wedding Website

Has anyone created a wedding website through WeddingWire or any other? Did you find that it came in handy with tracking guest and keeping them up to date on the progression of the wedding day? or Would you say it is more of a memorabilia hub?

We have a website on the Knot. It was easy to set up. I am not doing RSVPs through it though. I use it more for information in regards to hotels, airports, and things to do in my area. We are a lot of out of town/ state guests and some will be arriving the Thursday before the wedding. As much as I would love to take them around I'm not sure if we will have time so I'm hoping by giving them some ideas they may have some things to do in town.

Thanks girl, I may just do this. We have a lot of OOT guest and I know invites will be lost and rsvp will be done through text message ..which I do not want.

Kelsey, that's a really good idea, I didn't think to put up accomodation information. It will make it easy on my guest to navigate around the area. Even point out retailers in case someone forgot something.

The venue we choose also has a code to get the discounted room rate. I put that on there, I kind of forgot about until my MOH was trying to book her room and she messaged me for it. All in all in probably took me about an hour to create the website, with a little fine tuning after I got everything up.

I used a wedding website and I enjoyed having it. Just for people to RSVP and read up about us and our party members

I tried to use the WeddingWire website, but didn’t find it to be the easiest to edit so I went with Minted. I am so happy with the results.

We decided to use zola for our website because we liked how we can add our registry to it! I would read more reviews before making your decision; a lot of people didn't like how weddingwire's website was built etc.

I actually had a The Knot website and deleted it and switched to WeddingWire because I couldn't customize enough. But I might be a little more savvy with website builders than most (I have a technical job, I know some basic code and had to make a personal website for my Marketing degree so I tried several website design sites before). If you track RSVP on weddingwire there is a way for you to update RSVPs on the site for anyone who would rather RSVP over mail and/or phone confirmation. You can also indicate guests are related to each other so when they type in their name, the rest of the people in their household pop up as well. In addition, I thought it was amazing WeddingWire has a seating chart function, so as guests RSVP I can start seating them with other people they know. I already know my venue will be providing 10 person round tables for most guest seating, so I can plug some in as I go.

Registries can also be linked to weddingwire, you'll just have to click on each store to see the products rather than them appearing on the page.

Thanks Brittany, I've been playing with the guest list on Weddingwire and I think its cool you can link families/households. My FH graduated with a computer science degree and does a little bit of programming, but he has so many other projects going on. I'm trying to tackle this part myself to impress him..not gonna lie. I will def take all what you said into consideration! : )

Sounds good Melle. I leaning towards having a website and including some cool stuff about the bridal party and our location and theme.

I think most modern couples have a website. It's a super easy way to dump all of the information your guests need in one place and can greatly eliminate the need for a lot of stationary (RSVP cards, directions and hotel info, etc). Plus guests can access that information easily at anytime from anywhere, so they can have everything they need on their phone vs needing to find a piece of mail that came a month ago.

We made our website through The Knot (better privacy settings than WW) and will be having guests RSVP and make their meal selections via the website. Our website has some photos of us (which is great for people who don't use social media, especially older family members), the story of how we met and got engaged, and travel info for out of town guests. We aren't having a registry, but if we were that would be on there too.
