Wedding Website: Is It Necessary, What Does it Cost and What Is the Best Site?

GoneAndMarried, on August 25, 2014 at 5:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

Hello! I was just thinking about wedding websites. Did/do you have one? If so, how far in advance did you set it up? Why do you feel its necessary? What website did you use? What did it cost?

And if you don't mind, can I see your page for examples... and if you aren't comfortable posting it online, no worries, I get it! Smiley smile

THANKS!!

I had my site on the Knot for free because most of our guests were out of town so we had a lot of info about hotels, events, family gatherings, times, maps, and we listed our registry info there Smiley smile

    I used WW for free.

Like the others I wanted to include more information on the hotels/local attractions for our out of town guests.

I set mine up over a year ahead of time, I thought it was necessary because we have so many out of town guests and it was a great resource to get all the information out! Plus we are Catholic and not many of our guests are, so we have a resource for "What to expect at a Catholic wedding Mass"

It was the knot and free... I just liked the knot patterns better than ww

I used the free WW one. I think they are important because it lets you put lots of info on there like hotel, registry, pictures, etc that you shouldn't put on the invitation or don't have room for on the invitation. You just put the website on the invite and it covers a lot of info.

There are lots of free ones out there, WW and The Knot are the two that I know of off hand. You shouldn't need anything more than that so no point paying.

I set mine up about... 6 months before? I forget. Well ahead of when I sent out the invitations so it gave me lots of time to edit and add info but also give the link to people as a "save the date".

I used the free WW one (www.weddingwire.com/obrieniafrate). I started ours early because for all but 10 people it's a destination wedding and we were getting so many questions about who, what, where, when. Instead of answering those questions individually I sent everyone a link to the website. Made my life a LOT easier Smiley smile

I used the free WW one. I don't know if anyone went on it, though - no one signed the online guest book. But it had directions, hotel info, etc.

Wedding wire is amazing! It is free, and you can save money by having guests RSVP online. It is so easy to manage, and keeps it more organized than having people send back RSVPs. I would definitely recommend it!

Mine was free with the knot! And it was everything we could have needed. It was very helpful for guests, even my not so savy grandfather logged on and posted a message Smiley smile it melted my heart and it was a quick way to get info out to the masses !

I thought WW was wayyyyy better than the knot. I liked the RSVP option, the seating charts, and all the customizable sections. It was free (tho I spent many many many hours on it!), we got so many compliments.

Www.weddingwire.com/amandaandbo Free, easy and saved me a ton of money on rsvps since I had this option. We also wanted somewhere we could let people know our theme, and info about the after party etc.

I used wix and I loved it. It's easy to customize once you get the hang of it and it's free! I am constantly making changes! Trying to get it finalized since we are about to send STD's but here it is -

Like other folks, I'm using the free one that comes with WeddingWire and it's our Save The Date (haha, I never abbreviate that because who wants to send an STD? or maybe that's just me!)

I'm still sending out paper invites though and have followed up with folks to let them know that this is the Save the Date since we're doing a destination wedding.

And we're still adding a ton of information on here Smiley smile

I'm using WW and it's free. It's also our Save the Date. I decided to do it because we are doing it at our house and our house is far for just about everyone coming to our wedding. I'm still making a lot of changes and still adding stuff. A few of my pages are hidden. I will be sending out paper invites but I will be requiring everyone to RSVP at our wedding website.
