Wedding Vows

Faith, on November 15, 2019 at 7:30 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
How many of you have, or are planning to write your own vows? We have a beach wedding in June planned (it will be a bit warm) and do not want guests to roast...but really want to write our own vows. Pros / cons

Just write your own vows and keep them short.

We had an outdoor wedding and wrote our own vows. The whole ceremony took about 15-20 minutes which is a very reasonable amount of time. Just because you write your own vows doesn't mean they have to be very long.

We wrote ours. It was by far the highlight of the day for us, and many of our guests said the same! Ours were 2-3 minutes each. Our ceremony was only about 15 minutes, including the vows.

We got married on the beach in Florida and wrote our own vows. They were kept to a reasonable time and we are slow glad we did it.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Faith!

Although the weather will be warm, you can totally still write your vows. As the PPs mentioned, just keep them short Smiley smile Vows are typically one to two minutes max long, your guests should be ok with this length!

We’re sort of writing our own vows. Instead of saying them during the ceremony in front of everyone, we’re going to do it privately either before or after. I don’t feel comfortable speaking in front of that many people, and we don’t want to make our already long catholic ceremony even longer.

We are writing our vows together. I want us to agree to what we are promising each other and for us to promise each other the same things. I want us together to build what we think the definition of a marriage is and what is important to us.

We are writing our own vows. The only con (more of a disadvantage for my FH according to him) is that I got my BA in English and am currently in graduate school for Creative Writing. Haha

My best friend and her hubby wrote their own vows and had them printed out and given to guests in case people couldn't hear since it was outside or were hard of hearing.
