Wedding video/payments

Jasmine , on February 2, 2017 at 1:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hello ladies

My name is Jasmine, I am new to the forum. I wanted to ask you ladies about wedding videography.

How did you choose your videographer? What is a good price? How did you pay ( % down payment, all installments prior to the wedding, last payment post results of video ). Also, any advice when creating a wedding video ?

Thank you !

Jaz

    Hi Jasmine! Congrats and welcome!!

For me the two biggest factors when looking at videographers was quality of the video and cost! I found there to be less options when it comes to videographers than photographers, and that the quality / cost trade-off is pretty drastic! In general most of the videographers I looked at were around the same cost as photography.

Payment schedules will depend on the individual vendor, but there is always some type of deposit involved to hold your date! We paid 50% for the deposit, the other 50% was due by our wedding date, and we will receive the finished product within 6 months of our wedding date.

We're using The Pros for our videographer. It was more of a later "oh hey we can add this now" type of thing, and was more important for FH than me, so this was a vendor I was okay paying less for (though based on the sample videos it's not too much of a sacrifice on quality).

We got a discount on our deposit, but I believe through them the deposit is a flat rate and outlined in the contract they have a payment schedule of when they wanted how much, I don't know the percentages.

We looked at the vendor tabs here and went through each of them looking at reviews and their website. Saw videos online and narrowed down to two and started to contact them. After speaking to them and asking questions we finally decided on one.

Payments would really depend on each. Ours required 50% upfront and remainder a week before wedding.

As for good pricing, there is no good pricing. It would be depending on your budget.

I luckily know someone who does this on the side. He's charging me $1,000 for him and another person to do the ceremony and reception for 5 hours. I think that price was fabulous. I've seen people charge over $2,500 for this. He's not requiring a deposit since we're acquaintances.
