Wedding Videographer

Hey y'all,
I wanted to come on here and get some advise and suggestions on a sticky situation we have going on with our videographer. My fiancé and I booked our videographer last year for our June 2023 wedding however due to health complications, we had to reschedule our wedding for June 2024. All of our other vendors were understanding and rescheduled our date no issues. When it came to the videographer, I had to contact them several times in a span of 2 months just to get a response to see if he would be able to accommodate our new date or not. After 2 months, they finally responded yes and that they would send updated contract. A few months pass and we still had not received our updated contract so I reached out again, and same thing... reached out every other day in a span of 2 weeks. They finally responded that they would send the new contract and another week passes and still nothing. At this point, we decided to take screenshots and document all of this to file a dispute with Honeybook (where contract and down payment was paid) and our credit card issuer. We sent him one last email letting him know we were starting to get frustrated and he finally sent over revised contract in March 2023. Now, fast forward to September I decided to start to get in contact with my vendors again just to touch base even though we're still 9 months away. I go on my videographers page on IG to see if he had any new videos up and I see comments from a previous bride asking for her wedding video from October 2022!?!? Now I'm freaking out!! I decided to reach out to the bride to get her side of the story and waiting on her response but I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else... should I talk to videographer and bring up this concern or just cancel with him and run?! Deposit is non refundable if I cancel and also no where on his contract is there anything about cancelling on my behalf if I'm unsatisfied with his business etc. Any suggestions or advise would be helpful, thanks y'all! 🙏🏼

There are reg flags waving everywhere. I would cancel, forfeit the deposit, and find a more reliable videographer. I would probably reach out to other videogs before cancelling the one you have though; just to make sure there is someone you like available.

There are red flags here. Look elsewhere for a videographer who has much better ethics and communication skills. If they are this sketchy during the planning process, you can guarantee that they will not show up the day of and will charge you through the roof anyway with a tip included.

I agree. The best predictor of the future is the past. Thus, get someone else and then quickly cancel this other videographer. Might want to warn other brides if you think this is reasonable….?
