Wedding Venues in ct

Katie, on January 9, 2018 at 10:35 AM Posted in Connecticut Planning 0 16

Hi! So I am trying to have a wedding in Fall of 2019 with a budget of 10-15K for 110 people. I know! It is probably unrealistic but if someone had or is having a wedding in CT and had/has a similar budget I want to hear from you. My dress is already paid for and I have a photographer for $500. I like the rustic look however that is what is popular now so pricing is ridiculous, I am still pretty hell bent on having an outdoor ceremony. I am in the early planning phase and was hoping to do an outdoor bbq at my fiances boss's house but it looks like it is going to be more expensive and more of a headache then a traditional venue.

A friend of mine had her wedding in a CT state park near the Hartford area. The ceremony was under a wood pavilion and the reception was a few feet away under another pavilion. They did have to have the ceremony at 1pm and vacate the park by dusk, but it was under 10K. They had a BBQ truck come and set up a buffet as well. I do think they were closer to the 70 mark as far as guests though...

Winvian Farm in the Litchfield area is probably too expensive, but it is beautiful https://www.winvian.com/

I went to a September wedding at Wright's Mill Farm in Canterbury, CT that was gorgeous and affordable. They only offer buffet option if you are okay with that. The food is great and the ceremony space was GORGEOUS. http://www.wrightsmillfarm.com/

The Golden Lamb Buttery is in Brooklyn, CT. It is an a la carte restaurant during the week, so it doesn't have traditional "wedding seating." The food was to die for and the views were pretty. Also fairly affordable from what I understand. http://thegoldenlamb.com/

I'm not sure how many people Chamard Vineyards holds, but you should be able to have a wedding there on that budget. More "nature" than "rustic" but still very, very pretty. https://www.chamard.com/

I'll come back if I think of more!

Oh wait - Candlelight Farms in New Milford is closer to you. I have a friend getting married there this fall. http://www.candlelightfarmsinn.com/

My band played a wedding at this place in Brookfield once http://www.thefoxhillinn.com/

I also looked at the Waterview in Monroe. My sister had a gorgeous wedding at The Loading Dock in Stamford but I don't think that will work with your budget. There's also the Candlewood Inn in Brookfield and Dolce in Norwalk. No idea if those are in budget for you. Also don't be afraid to cross over into Westchester. That's where I am and there are tons of wedding venues in the area. A lot of hotels around White Plains do weddings. There's the Renaissance Westchester Hotel, and the Hilton Westchester.

I had the same budget idea when I started looking and let me tell you its hard lol I believe its harder because my Fiance hates rustic and CT is the place to be if that's what you want. I love the Colonial Tavern in Oxford and they were VERY reasonable with prices with an outdoor ceremony.

I highly recommend Big Meats BBQ... they will travel to you at the smoker and their food is amazing... I've been to several events where they were the caterer and the food has been the talk of the event! I never booked with them, though, so I'm not sure if they are s expensive or not...

As for location, check out Wood Acre Farms in Harwinton... they allow outside catering and they don't seem to be that pricey... we looked at them before we decided to do a cruise theme instead

I’m not sure if venues but as for cost saving check craigslist and resale pages. I’m from CT and I have gotten all of our stuff on resale to save a few $$$ lots of brides don’t know what to do with their stuff afterwards. It’s saved us about $5,000 so far.

Okay minus the BBQ, I'd suggest Aria in Prospect, Crystal Peak, or Elizabeth Park.

Pros/Cons of each based off of your question:

    Aria

Pro: gorgeous grounds and reception area for an outdoor ceremony. You can do plates or buffet (but it's Italian food). plates per person run about $94 after tax etc.

Con: not BBQ. Less "rustic" (my dress and the venue to me are more romantic, but my decorations are rustic, so I chose this venue bc it met my wants)

    Crystal Peak

Pro: In Litchfield county, really cute covered bridge and outdoor ceremony portion for your number of guests, decent drinks and food, plates are $74 per person

Con: again, Italian food, less rustic decor

    Elizabeth Park

Pro: Gorgeous grounds, very rustic indoor and outdoor. decently priced (I don't know exact numbers, but I know this was in the running for me because it was pretty cheap per plate)

Con: multiple weddings happen at the same time- I saw 3 different brides when we visited and it's open to the public sooo you might have random people watching your wedding.

You should check out The Woodwinds in Branford! I did a whole lot of research and went to a few different places and ended up going with them! My wedding is May 18, 2019 and for 115 people with the buffet we ended at about 13k but depending on the package you choose you can get it a bit lower as well!

We got married May 27 at Wood Acres Farm in Terryville/Harwington. It's really beautiful in May. We picked a Sunday and that was about 5k. They have a DOC on staff so everything runs smooth on your day. I highly recommend it.
