Wedding venue

Hi guys! I need some advice. So my fiancé and I booked our wedding reception at a local farm/vineyard for next August and paid our deposit. We didn’t receive any kind of deal but didn’t think anything of it. Now they are offering all sorts of discounts if you book with them next summer, including ten dollars off each person and free accommodations which is huge. I asked them about it and they said because we already booked we were not eligible for these deals. Is this crazy or just the way the business world works. Not going to lie I’m super annoyed. Wondering if I should make a bigger deal out of it... I like my discounts guys 🤣

Venues generally do this as an incentive to get dates filled that aren’t booked. Because you already booked it makes since that they wouldn’t honor this deal. They are trying to get new people in the door. It sucks but unfortunately it’s how that works.

That's the way it goes but if it were me based upon the time you booked and the time they started having the sale I would make a big deal out of it. But I would be nice about it. They would give me something!

The way it goes. They are trying to get last dates booked. Same for vacation and plane tickets you buy last minute. Even clothes that are going Off season.

Unfortunately that’s the way it works however you could try the, “I found a different venue with a better deal” stint but with weddings being such a big business it may not “hurt” them and it may not work.

It sucks but I'd still probably try to haggle them to give something to you ahah. Doesn't hurt to try like uh hey we booked before your promotion isn't there anyyyy kind of incentive for us

Unfortunately, this is how things usually works. It would be great if you could (I love my discounts too 😂) but they wont because you booked early. They say plan your wedding a year in advance but in some instances that can be a disadvantage.

Agreed- they're just trying to fill are to book dates- it's nothing against you.

Our venue started offering seasonal prices this year which we couldn't get since we booked last year. But after looking at the numbers, we're still coming out on top. They now charge per person as part of their ceremony fee vs. a flat rate that we got in our contract.
