Wedding venue - Southern Cali

Amber, on July 3, 2020 at 2:09 AM Posted in California Planning 0 4
Hi y’all, I don’t know what to do. My venue is a rather large venue that has multiple locations. I have expressed my concern with COVID-19 and how it has affected life I’m So cal. I have tried to ask about moving the wedding date and they haven’t let me. I feel like I’m forced to have my wedding during a pandemic and I don’t want to. I am only thinking of the safety of my guests and myself. I also know many of my guests will not come. What should I do/ say to my venue to get my point across to let them know i want to move my date.
Thank you

And your contract has no verbiage about cancellations and postponements?

Unfortunately, I think a lot of venues are trying to hold on to their October weddings right now. You may have to wait until closer to your date before they begin talking about postponing. However, I’d bring up the point that receptions are currently not allowed in CA. If the infection and hospitalization rates continue to increase, I don’t see that restriction changing anytime soon.

I would ask the venue how soon they plan to decide if October weddings need to be postponed. I also don't see restrictions changing for events by then, but I think venues are trying to hold off as long as they can for each month before confirming the need to postpone. And is there anything in your contract about rescheduling/postponing?

Hi Amber! Like the above brides have said, I'd ask your venue when they think they'll be able to make decisions about October weddings - just so you can get an idea of the timeline!

Is there a postponement fee you can pay to reschedule your wedding date earlier??
