My wedding venue was recently purchased by new owners and the new owners changed the name, but say they are still honoring contracts signed prior to the sale. Our contract is with our catering company, who is the exclusive caterer for the previous venue. My catering rep reassured me prior to signing the contract that nothing would change. However, the name of the venue has changed. My catering rep claims they have not heard back from the new owners if the name is changing or not, but there have already been newspaper articles with the new name published WEEKS ago, among other things. They also cannot confirm if the interior of the venue is going to change. We signed our contract for the venue, which includes its name and how it was when we toured and signed, after being reassured by the catering rep that nothing would change. Is my contract still valid? My contract only has the old venue name on it--which is what we signed for and wanted. The new name is mortifying--not classy at all.
