Wedding venue Help!!!!

Mackenzie, on September 8, 2019 at 12:09 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19
So I am kinda stressing out. we picked the place we are having our wedding ceremony which is my grandparents beautiful church. there is no charge to get married here since my grandparents basically run it. we found a really nice golf course/venue close by that is absolutely beautiful! it costs $750 to rent the room for the day we want and it comes with all tables, chairs and everything we need. but we have to have food there and we have to use their alcohol. we really like this barbecue buffet which would costs $16 a person but everyone could get however much they’d like. So with our guest list at about 120 people, I’d figured food alone is going to be around $1600. Is that a lot? As far as alcohol goes you can make it where it’s added onto our bill, a cash bar or both. Not sure what to do there but we definitely want alcohol there! The nice thing is there are payment plans. So to book our day we put $750 down and then 60 days before 50% of the total price and then the rest after. Thoughts on venue and pricing??

$16 a person is actually cheap! Well at least where I’m from. Venues in my area are charging between $50-$120/person for food , & a guest list of 175 yeaaaaa no thanks 😭 so you got a deal girl!

The cheapest ok food I've found around here was $20/pp. $16 is a steal. the average around me is $50-$60/pp. I went in expecting to spend about $4,000 just in food for my 50-75 guests xD

That’s extremely affordable in my opinion! Depends on your desired budget though. We decided on a smaller guest list so we could have a surf and turf style Buffett with an open bar. Honestly I would say just focus on your priorities and spend more in those places Smiley smile

For ours, it's about $50 a person and is going to be between 6,500 - 7,000 for the reception hall, food and drinks.

That’s an amazing deal. Everything around here is $5000 rental fee plus $100+ per person for food, and add money on top of that for the bar.

Like PPs have said, $16 is an amazing price imo!

We're doing a buffet where each item you select is priced per piece, and we're going to try and keep it around $30 but I have a feeling we're going to go over.

Our alcohol package is $25 per person for 4 hours; after 5 hours, the rate goes up per person. We're thinking of closing the bar during the dinner hour, and/or going down to beer & wine after the 4th hour.

For rental, we're paying $3000 for the space (includes bride/groom suites for the parties to get ready, outdoor covered ceremony space, cocktail hour space, reception room, staff, coordinator, linens, chairs, tables, etc.).

Yes, as everyone has already said, you’re getting a great deal! Just for more perspective:

Where I’m from, rental costs are in the thousands, sometimes $5k for only 10 hours (not even the whole day!). And we are paying about $26 a person for our food, and that’s for wood fired pizza, sides, and appetizers Smiley smile

For bar, most people will tell you “dont do cash bar” however it’s totally up to you and depends on your budget. We are doing beer, wine, and a signature drink open bar (this will just be a tab we will have to pay at the end of the night), but our bar will have other liquor available if guests desire to purchase it. We have a lot of big drinkers in our family, and I didn’t want to have to pay for them to be downing fancy (expensive!) whiskey all night. So the whiskey will be there as an option, but if they want it that badly they’ll have to pay for it themselves. Most of the time, the bar will be flexible with you in having options like this!

That’s a really great price! As far as alcohol, if you were supplying your own you could get it for probably $10pp but if you’re using theirs expect up to $25pp for alcohol! You should ask their price list for alcohol. If you want to cut that budget, a good way is to have open bar for wine and beer only.

Wow! My dear, you SCORED with that pricing!

For the alcohol bar, it’s good hosting to cover the cost for your guests. And perfectly acceptable to offer just beer & wine assuming hard alcohol costs more.

I agree with everyone else $16 pp is a great deal. However, I would make sure that there isn't a service charge or gratuity attached to it. I would also check on the tax rate and if the $16pp is inclusive of taxes. Not knowing this information will result in sticker shot when the final numbers come rolling in. In my experience this is where couples end up going over budget.

$16 pp is a STEAL! Girl, you should totally take that if that is for sure what you want and there are no hidden fees. Our catering bill is $6,090 but that includes alcohol and servers too.
