Wedding Venue Charging for next year already

Kirsten, on June 1, 2023 at 9:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

Our wedding is Feb 2024 and the venue is already quoting us on "next year's price increase". Is it just me or should we not pay the current prices as we will be paying for most of it this year? I'm not really concerned about things like the catering as I understand those prices will go up by the time these items have to be sourced. But what about a forest area for the ceremony and venue fees? Has anyone else had this experience? They're quoting us for 2023 prices *plus 10% on everything.

Thanks

This is pretty standard. Vendors have current pricing and then pricing for events in the future. All our vendors had both the current year's pricing and the next year's pricing listed when we were booking them. For some vendors, we were able to secure them at the current pricing and for some we had to pay the future year's pricing because we booked in 2018 for 2019. Our wedding was pre-Covid/the insanity that is inflation right now though so I don't know if that would be true anymore.

Yes, this is completely normal. Your venue has raised prices for all ceremonies taking place on their property in 2024 (likely in response to rising costs they anticipate incurring). Since your event is in 2024, you would be subject to the price increase.

I started planning in 2021, some vendors allowed me to lock in the 2021 price and some had me pay the 2023 price.
