Wedding venue and photographer?

Hello everyone I am getting married sept 24 of 2020 and me and my fiance are meeting with our wedding/engagement photographer next week to start paying her first part of her deposit. my wedding planner contacted me just now to ask if me and my fiance could meet up this Sunday to sign the contract for the wedding venue to pay and i told him we cant right now but i told him my fiance takes a lunch break soon. It was just out of the blue. I had no idea they wanted to meet this sunday with us. He never told me he got rid of fb messenger and its why for weeks he didnt see my messages. Is it normal for your wedding venue, and photographer payments to run together? i asked my planner if the venue can split the payments of the venue. he said he needs to get back to me if we pay the first portion of the deposit of the venue can we sign the contract and lock our date down permanently? My fiance has 3 paychecks coming in august and i hop we can secure the venue by august. Any thoughts? i should be hearing from him soon today hope to get a confirmed date of when we can pay the venue.

You should be able to put a deposit on the venue and lock your date down

Thank you. I will find out more from my fiance and see when we can do that it was just out of the blue my planner asked me that. We weren't able to see our venue till last month but we met with our photographer first and my planner wanted us to lock down our venue and photographer around the same time but it didnt turn out that way. i am grateful our date we want is still available i hope i find out good news at lunch when i talk to him.

I would lock down the venue before you pay the photographer. The venue means you actually have a date for all your other vendors including photographer.

Yes, most venues will lock in your date once they have a deposit from you. That's the most important vendor to lock down, because you need to secure your date for all the other vendors you will hire, including the photographer.
So, if it's a choice between paying the deposit on the venue, OR a deposit for the photographer, I would pay the venue deposit first, then use another paycheck to pay the photographer deposit.

Thanks ladies. i was engaged when i was super young and this time i am marrying the love of my life. i think we should definitely pay the venue first. we need to lock down our date we almost a year away from our wedding. thank you for all your help ladies!
