Wedding Transportation

Ashley, on August 25, 2019 at 5:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
Hey everyone! We’re tying to figure out what to do for transportation for the wedding party day-of. The ceremony and reception are in the same place, so we only need transportation from the hotel to the venue and then back to the hotel after the reception. We’ll have 20 people including parents that needs transporting, and ideally two shuttles/trips (one for my side and one for his). We’ve received a few quotes already but traditional limos charge for all the time in between trips (7ish hours) which is crazy to us as the hotel is 5 mins from the venue.

Does anyone have any advice or creative solutions?

We're opting out of transportation and having everyone take care of themselves. The hotel is 10 minutes away and everyone has an Uber app.

If you go with Uber and want to pay for everyone I believe there's a program where you could give everyone a specific promo code

Have you asked your hotel if they can help arrange or recommend? Some hotels do complimentary shuttles without a certain number of miles of their property. Or they might be willing to plan shuttles for your group for a certain fee.

A lot of people in my area use either a party bus or the city trolley. Maybe see if your town has one you can rent?

Many o.t guest will have cars. Many guest will use uber car service including myself. The limousine prices that I was quoted were ridiculous.

I'm in a similar boat, unfortunately. I've kind of given up on transportation for the wedding party (they won't mind catching ubers or something similar) but I'm still trying to figure out how to get FH and I from the venue to our house without paying $350 for a limo or towncar, which is literally the price I was quoted. It's for a 3 hour window, but I need them for a max of 30 minutes, and there's no way to divide or shorten the time.

Our friends just got married and their hotel (a Marriott) supplied a school bus as a shuttle free of charge.

We are going to be chartering a school bus for our wedding just because we need a lot of seats. Other options we looked at are trolleys.

Our wedding is in Skaneateles, NY – just outside of Syracuse!

Same here. Our wedding and reception are in the same place and the hotel is like 5 minutes away. We decided to do Uber and Lyfts. Limousine transportation is just too much and we really only need to get to and from the hotel and the venue.

    Hi Ashley!
Did you ever find a shuttle service? We are also getting married in the Syracuse area and our venue is in a rural area where the closest hotel is about 15-20 min away and would like to offer a shuttle service. But it needs to be reasonable. The quote we got from one shuttle service was in the $1000s for 4 hours (2 hour split) and we were blown away! Let me know! Thanks! 😊

Hey Kelsey! We’re going with Liv Eat Drink from Rochester - super nice guy named Mark and pricing was incredible. A bit untraditional in the sense that it’s not a limo but we didn’t care!
