Wedding toast drink options!

Stephanie, on February 27, 2018 at 9:09 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 40
Hi all,
So my fiance and I are not big drinkers and are having no alcoholic beverages at our wedding. One exception may be for toasting purposes but we would not like standard champagne, we'd like something a bit more unique. We've thought about a champagne punch or anything else that is more diluted alcohol.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

It’s fine that you are your FH are not big drinkers, but you should provide at least wine and beer for your guests. Champagne for the toast and you and FH can have punch or whatever you’d like. Or guests can just toast with their wine or beer.

I'm not a fan of dry weddings, but if you are planning a dry wedding, have a dry wedding. Don't tease your guests with an alcohol toast, even a diluted one, and then not provide any other alcohol at the reception.

If you’ve made a decision not to have alcohol at your wedding, then you shouldn’t have alcohol at your wedding, period.

I know now people have all kinds of reasons for a dry wedding so I’m not even going to go there. However, if you have no alcohol and then have something alcoholic for s toast, people will wonder why you didn’t serve alcohol throughout the wedding.

We're doing Welch's sparkling mocktails in flavors that complement our cake (probably Mango Bellini and/or Pina Colada).

Champagne already seems so diluted to me. I like the idea of normal alcoholic drinks for the others and maybe punch for you guys?

We are not doing the champagne toast at all. I think it's a waste of money. We are skipping over it and allowing guests to toast with whatever they are drinking at the time. However, we are having an open bar...

My FH and I do drink, just not heavily. Smiley smile we will have likely whatever everyone else ends up toasting with.

Interesting! That was an option we were thinking possible too: toasting with whatever guests have to begin with.

Whiskey neat. That's my drink of choice for toasting.

    Or tequila shots

We opted for a sake toast instead of champagne! But we love sake but that also goes with our theme and honeymoon in Japan!

If I didn't know any better, I'd think I told people I'm summoning the devil at my wedding or something... lol. Smiley smile
We are for sure not having alcohol for the whole wedding, I'm not looking to be convinced, just looking for other drink options.

I think you should just do that. Since you're not providing alcohol anyway, I don't think it's really necessary to have champagne available just for toasting purposes. I would just have them toast with whatever drink they have at the time.

I agree with this. I'd be so confused if I got one watered-down drink at an otherwise dry wedding.

I agree!! We are having a dry wedding and will serve no alcohol for several reasons. We are going to serve sparkling apple cider in place of champagne. To each his own.

Are you having flavored sake? I used to live in Japan and my all time favorite was the cherry blossom sake.

Last time I had champagne I broke into horrible hives so I'm not serving it this time. We will go with a dry wedding and let people toast with their drink at the time or possibly white grape juice.
