Hello all married couples! I’m trying to figure out how my wedding day is going to go so we can decide how long we want our photographer there. Our ceremony starts at 530, cocktail hour at 6, reception from 7-11. Now there’s 8-9 of us getting hair and makeup done. Is 10 hours for a photographer overkill? Would 8 hrs make more sense? How did everyone’s wedding day timeline play out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Do you want your photographer taking pictures of each person getting their hair /makeup done? Most likely they don’t. It depends if you’re doing a first look, pre-ceremony pics, etc. my timeline is same as yours but first look is about an hour away (photos in city) so he will start with fiancé and groomsmen at 130. I will be there at 2. There’s an hour and a half filler for travel and delays built in.

So I’m definitely going to have 2 photographers, the main one is gonna be for all day and the 2nd was just gonna be for the getting ready portion and the ceremony and first look photos because I want photos of guys and girls getting ready and I wanted different angles during the ceremony. I guess I just wasn’t sure if 10 hrs was overkill for the whole day or if its a pretty accurate estimate for how long a wedding day lasts...

I have your same exact timeline and I hired mine for 6 hours. She will be there from 4-10. She will take all our staged getting ready photos and leave after we cut the cake.

I have this timeline also, but i am doing my own hair and makeup so are my girls. I booked mine for 4 hours bu we are not getting any reception coverage. I dont need pictures of the reception bc its going to be intimate/family only. I did tell the photographer thought that i wanted a picture of the space and our cupcakes/cake. We will have our guests take pictures at the reception and cake cutting. idc abou the professional ones.
