Wedding time too late?

We are having our wedding and reception at a hotel. Due to check in times and not wanting to have random hours of our guests to do nothing our wedding is set to begin at 5:30 to 6. Cocktail hour and then reception 7-midnight. I feel like it's such a late time for a ceremony to start but I also want to make sure people aren't rushed if they are staying at the hotel that night. Originally we were going to have it start at 4:30 but check in wasn't until 4. We asked about early check in, but due to the amount of rooms-it could not be guaranteed. Is 5:30 too late for a wedding ceremony???

My ceremony begins at 730 so I would say no, it's not too late.

I think it's standard for Friday/Saturday evening weddings. We pretty much have the same timeline.

You' re fine. Just make sure you have appetizers with cocktail hour for those who are used to having dinner earlier.

Mine is on a Friday starting at 6:30 with hour cocktail. We aren't getting served dinner until 8:00. Not overly happy about it, but I wanted the venue for many other reasons

Almost all of our evening ceremonies start between 5:30 and 7:00 PM

That's what time mine starts. And you're right. As a guest I'd like to get settled into the hotel, shower and get dressed and not feel too rushed

I think that's fine! We will have a 6:30pm ceremony, 7pm-8pm cocktail hour, and 8pm-12am reception for our Friday wedding.

That should be fine. The night weddings I've been to have started at that time or later.
