Wedding Themes???

Kathryn, on June 19, 2019 at 11:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 16
Nooo idea what "theme" I'm going to choose! I'm getting married in Dec of 2020. What is your theme, and what theme ideas do you have that I could use??

Some theme ideas you could do could be majestic vintage (think mystical, moons and stars), elegance, romantic (reds, black ties, roses, traditional, goth, bohemian, etc. For me it’s hard to explain themes without having pictures, I would look up wedding themes on Pinterest! People mash up different elements together like vintage/bohemian, goth/romantic.

Some common themes are rustic, romantic, classic, fairytale, boho, country, vintage. You can focus on a season or color palette. Or get really specific with books, era, movies or games you & your hubby like such as Peter Pan, 1950’s, Great Gatsby, Game of Thrones, etc.

For a December wedding you could do a Christmas theme, winter wonderland, or bring in a winter plant/motif like pine cones, snowflakes, cranberries, cinnamon sticks.

If nothing jumps out at you, you don't need to have a theme. We are not having one. We have a color palette that all the decor and flowers are in and we kind of just went with a romantic/traditional feel which is in line with our venue. Honestly, if I have ever been to a wedding with a theme, I never noticed. I've been to themed bridal showers though.

We dont have a theme. We have out colors and I love sunflowers so we have sunflower centerpieces. The ballroom is already decorated beautifully as is our ceremony space. If we had to have a theme it would probably just be "wedding" lol! Dont stress over a theme, pick out the colors you want and incorporate those into your decor and it will all come together!!

Oooh, I wanted a winter wedding but FH said my Californian family wouldn’t come since we live in Colorado 😂 I wanted a rustic winter wonderland theme or Christmas theme

Our theme is "wedding." Themes are totally not necessary, but if you want to do one, winter or Christmas would be the obvious choices for a December wedding.

You don't need a theme. It's mostly decorations and colors that stick out to a couple.
Mine is technically floral, but that's because I'm lazy and my fiance wanted flowers.

Our "theme" is rustic. It's not a real theme IMO. We are just buying those type of decorations. I am working more off a color scheme. But there are tons. I think it'd be cool to do like a winter wonderland kind of thing for a December wedding. But hey you don't have to have one!

We didn't do a "theme" really. I feel like sometimes going with a theme can get a little out of control and make it feel like a kid's birthday party instead of a wedding! lol

We just went with a color scheme and a formality. It made it a lot easier to choose things!

I didn't really wake up one day and go "man I need a wedding theme!" but I thought about the stuff that fh and I like and decided that an antique vibe would fit our personalities and styles. He loves old cars/trucks and we are both sort of into history and we are both old souls, so it just connected.

I think themes are silly but my FH and I like the quote "I'm thankful for the moment my path met yours". We plan to make a banner of that quote with a map outlining our paths since birth and where we met each other and where we have gone since then with pin points of where we met all of the guests. This will also serve as the seating chart. Ex: the first eight guests we met in California, PA will all be at the same table. We also plan to write out memories we have of each guest to put at their place setting and instead of a guest book we're having them write us memories they have of us and putting them on a kind of memory board. So people have told me that our theme is travel or memories but the theme is us as a couple if anything.

Right! I just heard having a "theme" would make decorating easier. I may just stick to a color palette 🤷‍♀️.

I don't really have a theme. but i think if i were to ever have a wedding again, i'd go with a travel theme. i saw these mini suitcase centerpieces and hot air balloon things that just looked so cute.

I’ve been struggling with a theme myself but have picked out a lot of components that lean Art Deco. I’m probably not going to go as far as Great Gatsby but it’ll definitively have those elements to it. My advise is look up everyone theme suggestions in Pinterest and the pictures that you connect with the most is your theme.
