How soon before your wedding did you schedule your food and cake tastings?

We did both our food tasting and cake tasting roughly 1 year prior to our wedding. The tastings played an important role in deciding which caterer and baker to use

Maybe a few months out but depending on how much you are willing to spend budget for it because you may like the more premium flavors.

Because of covid, we ended up not doing a tasting with our venue (got catering from a fave breakfast spot instead) but we were scheduled around June for an October wedding (about 4 months out)

We were an anomaly in that we did our food tasting right after we booked our caterer, 22 months out. However, we didn't do our cake tasting until 6 months from our original date.

You should do them long before you book the vendors so you aren't locked into having bad food/cake.

Our food tasting was through our venue, and we scheduled it to be about 6 months prior to our original date. We did our cake tastings about 4 months before our original date.

Our food was also provided by the venue, and the tasting was initially supposed to be 6-7 months out. With COVID, it was 2 months out.

For cake, we went about 8 months out.

We’ve already done our food tasting, we actually did 2 because our venue allowed unlimited times prior to covid. So the first time we just wanted to try what was on the menu and the second we were invited to go by the venue. We are getting married next November so we did about 11 months out for food. We haven’t done cake yet and probably won’t until January, maybe December before the holidays. Our cake comes with our package.

Our cake comes with our package as well! We haven't done our food tasting for our big wedding in March yet because we may have to change our package due to Covid 🙄

Our food will also be provided by our venue and I feel like our tasting will be the same. We originally planned for October (our big wedding is in March) but now I'm thinking winter. Our venue provides the cake as well so our tastings will be together

Did they also provide your cake? Or was that a different vendor?

I think if we had to choose we would've done the same timing but our venue is providing both the food and cake. Covid is messing the timing up 🙄

We already chose our package, now it's just choosing the actual sides/entrees/appetizers.

Maybe a few months out. I am just saying with the cake we had in mind what we wanted but then we tried some premium flavors and it was over ha ha. Next thing I knew the prices went up.

Omg 22months is a long time lol. Is there a reason you waited 6 months for the cake?

We went through a different vendor. Our venue provides dinner, drinks, and appetizers, and we're on our own to find a dessert vendor. Actually, we have two dessert vendors! One for a cake (for us to cut and for wedding party dessert), and another for tiramisu (my fiance's favorite dessert, which is what we're serving to our guests).
