My brother got married 6 weeks after I did. Never heard of that superstition, haha kind of sounds like a jealous sibling made it up. We both had awesome weddings and have happy marriages so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree with PP, it sounds like a jealous sibling made up that superstition 😆 Two of my sisters got married within a year of eachother (10 mos apart) and there were no issues. Both had beautiful weddings, a high guest turn out, and both are still happily married

That’s crazy I’ve never heard of that and two of my cousins who are siblings are getting married this year. I agree it had to be a jealous sibling lol.

I've never heard of this superstition either. I Googled it, and it looks like this superstition is from the Phillipines.

I'm not a superstitious person, so I wouldn't be able to treat a request like that seriously. But since superstitions DO matter to the people who believe them, there's no way to use logic or anecdotes of successful marriages to convince them not to believe. You and your future spouse will just have to decide which is more important to you both: getting married on your own timeline or capitulating to your partner's family.

This is only a thing for people who want a whole year for only their wedding. My BIL & SIL got married less than a year before us. Their wedding was in December, we got engaged in January and married in September. My sister was also going to get married this year but canceled due to covid, but that would have been 3 and I don’t think that’s odd.

LOL. I've never heard of it being bad luck, but maybe. My sister got married July 2012, I got married September 2012... we are both divorced.

I agree with this it sounds like the sibling is jealous because they're afraid they won't have 100% of the attention all year. My 2 cousins got married the same year and month. One got married in the beginning and the other got married at the end of the month.

We were a 2020 couple originally, and ended up getting married 6/7 weeks after my BIL and SIL. I think it's kind of cool that we share a year (I'll also share 2021 with one of my best friends). I'm an only, so sibling stuff is off in another world to me.

I've never heard of that superstition. Do they mean the same calendar year or with 365 days of each other? I got married in July 2020 and my husband's brother got married March 2021. No mention of any bad luck, but maybe because it is a different year.
