Wedding Stress

Kailey, on August 29, 2019 at 1:34 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19
Is it normal to be stressing over a wedding that’s over a year away? It’s time for me to choose my wedding colors, and I CANT DECIDE!!! Which is one of the first steps in wedding planning! There are so many options..it’s a fall wedding and it feels like everyone is asking. I just have no idea where to go on this and I’m not sure if I’m ever going to be able to make a decision.

Yes! Well, I think it's normal anyways! I am still 14 months out from mine and I am stressing so I understand!! An important thing to do is when you are stressed is you need to walk away and come back when you have relaxed or have done something you enjoy. Well, is there any color that you just have to have? Or one that you just gravitate towards?

Don’t stress! It will all come together. Find your venue first and then maybe it will give you some inspiration. Also, do you have a favorite flower that you want to incorporate? That’s where is started. Either way it will all come together in time.

If you're having trouble with choosing colors, I highly recommend The Knot wedding planning binder. Not only is it just a great little binder with lots of information and keeps you organized, but my FAVORITE part is a whole page of color swatches that have info on the back of what colors go best with what. Then you can put swatches together on a separate page and choose from your top color combos! Really helped me in choosing my colors, cause I didn't have a clue what I wanted lol

I’m stressed too! And mine is a little under 2 years out. Besides the planning itself, we just purchased a second car (we had no choice) so now we have 2 big car payments plus all of our other monthly bills so I’m definitely overwhelmed now than ever

Hopefully! Good thing we haven’t booked anything nor spent any “official” wedding money so I just hope we can save enough for our budget from now till then 😭

Pinterest and pantone have a lot of ideas about colors...

but I would pick a venue first and try to find colors that would look nice with it. Sometimes people adhere to much to colors and it doesn't end up going with the venue.

So something that helped me decide was attire. I am a SUCKER for a man in a navy suit so that eliminated some colors for me. I wanted my FH in blue and I'm also a big fan of neutrals (I always get gray, taupe, black, or white at the nail salon) so I chose taupe for my bridesmaids. In order to cut down on costs of flowers, I've decided to make everything very "green". There might be a few hints of maroon in my bouquet because I went to Texas A&M and am getting married in my college town. My overall colors came out to be navy, taupe, and potentially maroon. What color do you usually get your nails done at the salon? That might help you decide what's really "you".

I'm in the same boat as you. Except everyone wants me to give them a head count so we can pick a venue, but I can't decide who to invite and who to cut. It's so stressful!

Totally normal to stress about it. fall! I love fall, I feel like those colors are easier to work with than spring. however! find a color you must have. we did it backwards. I found my flowers and that helped me with my colors. for both attires for the bridal party and the over color scheme of tables and linens. (fall is amazing, so many different ideas that can go with fall - jealous)

Hi Kailey! Don’t stress!! It’s going to be all good. I’m having a fall wedding toon Nov 21 2020 to be exact! My colors are dusty rose velvet for girls dresses, dark navy suits for the guys, my dress is blush, and there will be a lot of greenery (rather than flowers).

What kind of mood do you want to set? I wanted mine to be soft, moody, romantic, so I chose those colors and will have lots of candles.

Jewel tones are really popular in autumn, and can look stunning for bridesmaid dresses! Plus, mix and match jewel tones bridesmaid dresses are amazing 😍 especially in velvet. I’m just loving velvet for fall. Haha

I'm Oct 2020 too! I had stressed about it in the beginning cause I am not a big color person. So we had picked out our venue and realized that we wanted to go simple and elegant because our venue is naturally pretty. Then I was like they give us gold chairs so why don't we just do white and gold. Simple and elegant. Pick your venue and then think of the theme you are going for and pick colors from there.

I did the same thing before mine. I went back and forth between a couple of options before I decided, so when buying decorations and things early, I got basic things that I knew would go with anything. In the end it all came together better than I could’ve imagined it to.

I'm getting married next October too and I haven't finalized on colors either. I feel like my problem is that I want way too many. I love the idea of pops of orange and berry colors for fall, but also want neutral. You're not alone! Smiley smile

I started buying wedding planning books galore! That gives me timelines to help go by to start with. Some simple stuff like pick a date, pick a budget, have a guest list. Done. Then it starts to get fun like pick a dress, pick rings, pick colors. And it gives you a task list to help organize your thoughts on HOW to attack the planning process. That's helped me a lot Smiley smile Stress is still natural, but you'll find yourself calming down with time and with more decisions made. Smiley heart

It took me about two months to figure out a color scheme, and I'm sure I drove my fiance mad in the process by changing my mind so many times. Just know you do have time! Take it all day by day!
