Wedding stress due to covid

Alexandra, on November 11, 2020 at 8:24 PM Posted in New Jersey Planning 0 5

Hi fellow NJ brides! These past couple of weeks I have been struggling and stresssed with our wedding planning. As you all may know, cases of COVID have risen and we are now over 10% and I just don't know if/when it will get better. Our wedding is set for March 19 and with all the uncertainty that is to come this winter, deciding what to do is becoming hard. Next week we will be 4 months away from our day so I know the decision will have to be made sooner rather than later because we will have to order invitations, etc. but both of our families have individuals who are in the compromised category and could be at higher risk to catch Covid-19 so that's a worry of ours as well. The health and safety is the most important for us. We still want to get married on our date and if we can have a small ceremony with just immediate family then postpone the reception to a later date.

Those of you that have weddings coming up, how are you handling this?

We got married during covid! May 16 2020. Also we live in NJ too! We originally were supposed to have a 92 person wedding at a venue. Ended up with a 7 person wedding. If u live in or around south Jersey look up Once upon a time gardens in clayton nj;we had an outdoor garden ceremony for $250. Check out their Facebook! I wish u all the best. We had to downsize our wedding, lose our $1,000 deposit and are waiting for the venue to send us our $$back, they owe us 6800 and so far we have received 2000 back. Its rough. We also decided not to do a vow renewal.

Hello. I am on the same page as you. Mine is on March 28. Right now, it is hard trying to figure out what to do next. Its like do I postpone it even more or do I just keep the date and play it out. Even thought I care about people health and safety. Reaching out to the venue, even they do not know what to do. It just taking one day at a time. Since nobody knows how Covid will be in the winter season and what the turn out will be. It is a stressful stage to be in right now. I even made the new save the date but have not sent them out. I'm already married when the pandemic was about to happen. It just doing the reception.

Luckily our venue has had experience with all couples that had to postpone after all the lockdowns were lifted - they have had couples do a smaller ceremony with like a cocktail reception and the postpone the big celebration for a later date; so that gives me some hope that either way we’ll be ok. Just a matter of deciding what route to take and continue and shrink the guest list down. Just the uncertainty is so stressful. We still want to get married on our date regardless (we’ve been together for 10 years and I don’t want to wait anymore lol) so that’s our other thing to think about
