Wedding start time

Sylvie, on February 7, 2020 at 3:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 21
Has anyone picked their Wedding start time yet? At first I picked 3pm then a few people said that’s way too early so I changed it to 5pm.....😫😫😫.... But what’s a good start time for a wedding at a venue?

It depends on what time you want your wedding to end. Then determine how long you want the wedding to last, then you have your start time! We're having our ceremony at 3 and ending at 8. Weddings are usually around 4-6 hours, so if you want an all-night party type of event, then 3 would be too early for you. FH and I are not the party type and will be more than ready to be done by 8 Smiley xd

It is your preference! Don't let others try and dictate your day Smiley smile

Ours is at 1:30! (partially because we can't go any later at the church)

We chose 5pm because it would be right before sunset and then we'd get some cool photos. Seriously. We wanted pretty photos and that was it. We also figured people would be hungry around then and so dinner will start at 6, just in time for it to get dark so everyone can move inside. And then we're having a big bon fire and roasting marshmallows outside under the stars. Should be lovely.

I think if you're providing a full meal, think of a start time that coincides with a meal. 3pm would have been pretty early, as a meal after that would have been too early for dinner but too late for lunch. If you're just providing appetizers or light refreshments, any time is fine as long as it's not a typical meal time.

We were originally looking at 2 but I think we are going to change it to 3:30 because it’s fall and we’re hoping to do an outdoor wedding

Our venue gives us the space for the day but we desire to have our wedding from 5:30-6. Then cocktail hour and reception from 7-11.

We started ours at 3. It was late fall and dark early so we wanted to make sure we got pictures done before sunset.

We're starting our ceremony at 3. I don't think it's too early? I honestly don't think I've ever been to a wedding that started after 4pm? By the time the ceremony is over, everyone heads to the reception, and we take pictures, it'll probably be after 4. Do what you think is best!

It’s totally up to you and your future spouse honestly. if your guests are really there for you they would come to your wedding no matter what time is starting. my wedding is starting at 12 PM and that’s what works for us, no complaints from guests.

We’re starting our ceremony at 3pm. We wanted out of town guests from my hometown to be able to drive home if that wanted to. Our fake getaway will be at 8pm, but the reception won’t end until 9pm.
