Wedding stamps...didn't budget them!

Jackie, on March 14, 2016 at 8:49 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23

I guess I've been in the dark age about the cost of stamps. Just went and purchased some from the post office for the STD's. $.49 per regular stamp? Did any one have custom stamps made for their invites?

Stamps have gone up. Did you weigh your invitations before getting the stamps? If they are more than one ounce, think you have have more.

They're so expensive and so easy to forget about. I would skip the custom stamps, seems like a waste.

It's $0.22 for each additional ounce.

FH wanted custom stamps, so we did them, but purchased standard stamps for the rsvp envelopes. If he didn't have an opinion, I would have purchased standard stamps for both. There's lots of pretty stamps on the usps website that you can order.

Skip the customized stamp. Its honestly a waste of money. No one will care about the stamp (which will most likely be covered up by the post office's stamp) , yet alone what envelope you use. Save the money for something else

Custom stamps didn't seem worth it to us.

The USPS has some really cute options that you can order online for the same price as at the post office and thats what we did.

We bought old stamps on eBay. They were cheaper and looked so cool.

We got custom stamps for our STD's... not worth it.

We did custom stamps for our STDs and got a lot of compliments on them, which was nice. We weren't planning on doing them for the wedding, but when I took our invite to get weighed at the post office I was told it was over the $.71 stamp size and would be $1.20. I didn't want to put two stamps on our calligraphied envelopes so...custom it was again. Definitely not an expense that people will remember though, I think if you do them it's more for yourself than for others.

@FutureMrsG I'm using my leftover STD stamps for thank you notes!

Ooooh we definitely forgot about this in the budget. We left wiggle room because we knew we were forgetting something. I would skip the extra expense of the customization though- no one really looks at the envelope.

I skipped the custom postage stamp, they're already expensive as it is.

Agree with Tina. Did you weigh your invitations? You may need 2 or more.

I didn't even know you could do custom! We got the red and white hearts for ours as our colors were red. The silver wedding bells and white roses are classic as well!

We did specialty stamps and I kind of regret it.... We paid like $15 for a sheet of 20 (.71 cent ones because our invitations are a little heavier) and we ended up spending like $100 just on stamps... Really cute stamps but still... Not really worth it. Lol

They have some very pretty .49 forever stamps that are perfect for weddings available on the us postal website.

I didn't think about hire much they cost either, but I made the realization before the purchase, so we went with postcard STDs and got post card stamps... They're cheaper, I think they were $.35. Can't remember now. Our RSVPs will be on postcards, so we don't have to pay more money on the postage they send back.

If you have a Costco membership you can get a book of 100 forever stamps for around $50.

Stamps definitely got me. After sending invitations and addressing return envelopes it hit me for almost $70. I was not very happy.

I would buy customs stamps esp for RSVPs that are ultimately coming back to you.
