Wedding Songs!

Martika, on July 9, 2019 at 6:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 3 18

Hey lovely ladies! I need all of your help!!

I have NOOOO idea what songs to play. Please help me, I am having such a hard time. The order is how my DJ has everything set up. Here is what I have so far:

Processional: nothing HELP ME!!!

Bridal March: A Thousand Years (Christina Perri) or Speechless (Dan + Shay). I can not decide which one.

Recessional: Marry You (bruno mars) or Love on Top (Beyonce)

Grand Entrance Song: Ready For It (Taylor Swift) I am a huge Taylor Swift. FH HATES her music. But told me I could have one song. I thought this may be the one I pick.

Cake Cutting Song: Sugar (Maroon 4) or Cake by the Ocean (DNCE)

Mother and Groom Dance: A Song For Mama (Boyz II Men)

Father and Bride Dance: no clue

First Dance: Can't Help Falling In Love (Haley Reinhart version) or Stay With Me (John Legend)

Couples or Anniversary Dance: want suggestions, not sure if we will add this dance

Bouquet Toss: Single Ladies (Beyonce) If I opt into this

Garter Toss: no clue. Not sure if we will do this, but want suggestions.

Last Dance: Take Me Home Tonight (Eddie Money) or Forever (Chris Brown)

Any help you can give me would help. Nothing is set in stone. So if you have recommendation for any it will

I don’t have a ton of recommendations, but I’m going to throw a vote in for Speechless as your bridal march because I personally haaaaate A Thousand Years. 😂

I can't pick between the two. I can't decide if Speechless is more of a bridal march or first dance song.

I don't know how helpful this will be, but we're going completely non-traditional with our music.

While guests are arriving, being seated: A selection of classical pieces

Processional: Thank You by Led Zeppelin (bridal party and bride)

Recessional: Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder (ok that one's pretty mainstream)

    Reception Intro: Thunderstruck by AC/DC

First Dance: It's Your Love by Tim McGraw w/Faith Hill

Mother/Son Dance: Song for Mama by Boys II Men (FH still isn't sure about this one. He's got another song by a rapper from CA that he might use instead).

    No father/daughter dance

    Not sure about bouquet/garter toss

Those are the only "planned" things we have so far. The music during the reception will be a mix of all styles and artists. Some old (rat pack/Sinatra type), some new (my daughter could tell you, lol), and some in-between (80s pop/rock/metal/rap)--FH and I love our 80s tunes!!

I found a processional song I LOVE that makes me cry every time I hear it: Sara Bareilles “I Choose You.” I wanted to have it during the bridal march but I love it so much I needed the whole song to play.

I like the idea is Speechless for the bridal march. I was struggling with that too. I feel like A Thousand Years is overdone.

I’m a country girl so for our anniversary dance if we do it, I want God Gave Me You, that was my first choice for our 1st dance, but let my FH pick instead, he hates country.

I Picked a violin/piano mix of Canon in D for my processional and my wedding march, maybe you can have that as a processional? And I don't know how old fashioned the father of the bride is but maybe Fly Me To The Moon by Frank Sinatra, or of of his other songs?

Okay so I absolutely love I Choose You. I thought it was too fast paced for a processional song. I always thought the processional and bridal march should be slow songs.

They can be anything you want. I think the bridal party processional could be upbeat and fun and then the bridal march slower. Makes it more dramatic.

I will say FH and I picked Greatest Love Story by LANCO (we are doing a second song in honor of our best friend who was also my high school sweetheart and his best friend/roommate, he passed away in June. We are going to dance to Iris by Goo Goo Dolls because it was his song to me. FH idea!) And as for the Father Daughter Dance, we are dancing to I loved her First.

Bride processional is Paradise by Coldplay (instrumental version)

Groom processional is the BBC Robin Hood theme

Our recessional is Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder

We aren't having a bridal party, anyone escorted, no scheduled dances, toasts etc so we only needed these. The music for the reception with be a playlist we have chosen as background music.

We did however add in both of our parents songs as a suprise so if they want to dance, they can.

His parents song is The Way You Look Tonight by Rod Stewart and my parents song is I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You by Alan Jackson
