This girl makes me want a wedding singer. She makes me tear up. Who is having a wedding singer? How did you choose who will sing @ the wedding (church, friends, **kareokee)

**SN TeeDub- take your blockers down so I can PM.

At the ceremony, we didn't have a singer. All the music was on a CD, and a friend just pushed the right buttons at the right time.

However, we had a singer instead of a band or DJ at our at-home reception. She's a friend who is also a professional musician. You can hear some of her songs at this link, if you can get past the purple text on a black background. ;-)

It worked out very well for us. A bunch of our friends are her fans. And they are the ones most into dancing, so we had a fair amount of dancing even with our crowd of "old fogies."

Our only issue was that many of her songs are not exactly romantic. (She credits her EX-boyfriends for inspiring many of them.) So we asked her to learn a new song, Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love," for our first dance. She kind of had to do that karaoke-style, because she didn't have a band as back-up, but that was fine with us.

I'm having a wedding singer and a musical interlude. My sister/friend is my coordinator of music for the ceremony. I let her pick the music, because she know what type of person I am and and we grew up in church so she already know that what is expected.

I sing, so I plan to surprise him at the reception and sing a song with my band (who will be performing for our guests). But for the ceremony one of my male singer friends will sing me down the aisle. It's still so early, but I know a lot of lil details I want!

LMAO @ Ms. Boop!! Me too... We're actually going to have two singers as well. My hubby is a music producer/writer so one of his artists is going to sing a song that hubby wrote for me as I come down the aisle and my SIL is going to sing at the reception!!

If you're having a wedding singer... congratulations! But before you sign the dotted line... make sure your DJ and/or band has the ability to plug in performers and run them through professional vocal effects. Heck, even a karaoke machine will do, for that matter... but not all DJ's are equipped for this, so be careful as you might be opening up a can of worms and additional expenses.

Also if you have a singer during the ceremony; just be aware of the timing..like i went to one before when they had someone singing in between the couple/priest saying stuff ..so it was like talk talk talk. stop. turn to singer lalalalalaaaa. stop turn to priest, say stuff, and so on for a few times, it just seemed a lil choppy and a bit awkward.
