Wedding Shoes

Jennifer, on May 19, 2021 at 8:36 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Please help!! My dress will be here within the next month and to start getting it fitted I will need to have my shoes. Are most people getting ivory shoes or white? My dress is more of an ivory so I wasn't sure what color I should go with. Also, where are most people getting their shoes from? Another question is what style? I am NOT a heals girl but I do want like a 1-1/2 or 2 inch heal for that day. ADVICE PLEASE!!!!

I’m wearing VERY SHORT block heels from Badgley Mischka. They have very affordable and comfortable wedding shoes. They usually have the stiletto, block heel and flat version of every shoe.

I wore rose gold flat sandals that I found at DSW. Wedding shoes can be any color you want and any heel height you want. Honestly, unless your dress is tea length or shorter, no one will even see your shoes. Tons of brides wear converse or keds. It's really anything goes. If you wear the shoe at your wedding, it's a wedding shoe. Also, be mindful that you will be on your feet for a VERY long time, so if you are not used to heels, I probably wouldn't choose the wedding to test out wearing them for like 8 hours.

My shoes were silver and blue wedge sandals that I got from Shoe Show (? Rack Room? Shoe Carnival? One of them). I think I paid $30 for them and (pre-pandemic) I wore them out and to work. Yes, they're my wedding shoes, but I didn't want a one and done kind of thing for shoes. FWIW my SIL bought super spendy wedding-specific shoes and she had HUGE blisters (and hasn't worn them since)

I was one of those brides that wore converses. While I like heels, I wanted to be comfortable and not worry about tripping and falling. Like Hannah said, if you don't wear heels often I wouldn't pick your wedding day to be the day you decide to wear when for hours. As for color, they can be really any color you want. I wore white and my dress was white. But it didn't matter because you couldn't even see my shoes.

I am 5’9” and plan on wearing dressy flats with little to no heel! I’m also thinking of getting a light blue pair (vs a white/ivory) as my something blue Smiley smile

Unless the dress is short, no one will see your shoes so you can wear red if you want. Shop local stores: DSW, Macy’s, Target, Burlington, etc. Always always try them on first before you buy because you can’t tell by looking at a picture online if they will fit or be comfortable. Do not rely on a website return policy. One of the most common things I have read online in lists of “what would brides do over?” is get different shoes and try them on before buying.

If you are not used to heels, go with the shortest height you can get away with. You need to practice and break them in around the house.

I’m planning to wear heels because I’m comfortable walking in them in formal settings.

I am planning on buying dark blue block heels. I am only 5' so I am looking for something a little taller than you are (probably 2 1/2"-4" heel). I am picky though, so I may go with an off-white pair of heels I bought from Lulu's last year that are very comfortable if I can't find any blue ones I like.

Amazon, Etsy, Lulu's, DSW, and Belk are my go-to list for shoe shopping that won't break the bank. Lulu's has a limited selection but, if you find ones you like, they are great. My advice is to check return policies first and order early if you plan to buy your shoes online. Read the reviews first for each style of shoes before you decide to order them, too. If you still don't have you shoes in time for your fitting, wear shoes that are the exact same height as what you are planning to buy.

These are my backup shoes, for reference: https://www.lulus.com/products/taylor-off-white-ankle-strap-heels/1057982.html Wedding Shoes 1

I'm 5'3 so I got 4 inch custom heels with my new last name and wedding date printed from Kate Whitcomb. I'm planning to wear those for the ceremony and change into heels. I tried them both on with my dress and had no issues with tripping or anything like that

Found some ivory shoes on Poshmark from Bella Belle - because I love their shoes but they're pricey. My dress is ivory. I found this list of stores to be helpful: https://bridalmusings.com/163739/best-places-to-buy-bridal-wedding-shoes/
