Wedding shoe regrets..

Aleah, on September 30, 2019 at 4:16 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
I purchased my shoes a couple weeks ago and thought they were so cute, they were tall but I thought I’d get use to them. I’ve been walking around in them a lot and I still feel like I’m going to just lean and fall lol. And also it makes me much taller than my FH which I don’t like lol. Then to add to that. I walked outside where I’m getting married with them and they do not like walking on the ground, I wobble. So now I am frustrated and have looked for different shoes in so many stores and online and just can’t find any I like. I just want comfortable, affordable flats to make it simple. But I cannot even find that ?! I almost want to just wear some white sneakers (No one is going to see them anyways! I’m wearing a ball gown) but my mom literally won’t allow me. She’s like “NO.” And she’s a hard lady to go up against. 18 days till my wedding.

These are the shoes I don’t want to wear anymore, I don’t want to risk falling!

Have any of you had any shoe/attire regrets? Are any of you wearing flats or sneakers?

Have your dress already been hemmed? Were you wearing this shoes when it was hemmed - if so be careful with the shoe height. You might want to check w/ the seamstress to see she could hem it to match the new height of the shoes in time for the wedding.

I had a slightly similar situation, my shoes that I had were 2 1/2 heels but they were really hard to dance in. The heel was really narrowed & last week the heel broke while dancing. I took the good heel to multiple stores and found one pair that matched the heel size & the heel was much thicker.

I just had this same thing happen. FH and I love the Washington Capitals Hockey team, I bought flats with their logo on. I walked in those shoes at home for weeks and...they just hurt my feet. I felt hobbled. I dont want to be in any pain on my wedding day. I ended up getting a cute pair of plain blue flats that are mega comfortable. I still look at my original pair and feel a bit bad, but I just can't wear them.

I wore a block heel and loved how comfortable they were. I bought nude so I could wear them again (and I have, several times) but they also make them in white

I'm wearing glittery Kate Spade Keds. You should wear whatever you want. You're an adult, you don't need your mother's permission. I do have the same concern as PP regarding the length of your dress and the drastic difference in height.

I emailed my seamstress about the change I haven’t heard back from her yet. She did measure me for those shoes, I sent her mommy height and the measurements of the shoe and told her I am finding flats, my dress and seamstress is a little over an hour from where I live or I would go there, the day alterations were paid for she told me if I had any changes and she had to cut more off that it wouldn’t be any extra charge so that’s a relief. But I do need to touch base with her I am just waiting on a reply, I might call her later today to make sure she got the email. I haven’t found my flats yet, it’s so hard to find any comfortable ones that aren’t insanely expensive. All the ones I’ve found that looked comfortable were over 50$ and all the ones that were affordable weren’t comfortable, go figure. I guess if I have to spend more I will but I really hope I don’t have to.

These are so cute. I would wear those out a lot too lol, but I think they would sink in the hard I’m getting married. I’ve been to bells three times now and they’re having issues with their shoes, because they don’t have anything my size yet. I’m gonna go again today.

Actually they work great for not sinking in. I’ve worn them several times to outdoor weddings since my wedding. And there are lots of brands that make ones just like this one

I’m wearing space grey tieks. My best friend got married last weekend and wore the sparkly Kate spade keds. It’s your wedding, not your mothers wear the shoes that you’ll be comfortable in/make you happy

I wore these on my wedding day back in July! I like that they are flat on the bottom but still had a small heel (not high enough to make me taller than Husband! lol) Super comfy too!

It does depend if the dress has been hemmed with that heel or not. However you being comfortable is super important! If your dress is more ball gown you can wear many different types of shoes that would be covered. You've got this! Flats sound like the way to go if that's an option with the hemming Smiley smile

I had shoe regret as well and ended up buying a new pair that I like much better. I swapped a pair of thin heels for block heels and they are so much more comfortable. As long as you can catch your seamstress before she hems it, you should be good. Even if she already hemmed it, she can probably re-hem it since you're removing fabric and not the other way around. It's just a question of how much time she has to do so and how much it would cost you.

Luckily my seamstress told me when alterations was paid for that if anything needed to be fixed it wouldn’t be an extra cost.

We paid for all alternatives a couple weeks ago and it covered any fixes like if I don’t like something or if I need more cut off, so that’s good. I just hate that it worked out this way. It’ll definitely need more cut off, it was already way too long on me, I tripped on it. Those shoes just aren’t sturdy enough for my wedding day and I don’t think I could live it down if I fell on my butt lol. I think flats are a win win for me, comfy and reliable.

Those are some really cute shoes you can wear for some other thing though at least. i just wore pink flats. pink because those were my wedding colors. if anything you can always take a plain shoe and decorate it yourself too.

I'm literally so clumsy that I sprained my ankle pretty badly a couple of months before the wedding. So anything with a heal was an automatic nope. I wore a tea length ball gown and rocked sequin converse. Everyone in the wedding party wore their own style of converse including the groom. It was perfect and I didn't feel weird for wearing them since everyone else was.

I haven't decided yet if I want to do an all white pair of converse/ vans or if I want to do a custom pair of vans. Either way, I knew I wanted to stick with sneakers. I wear them every day, so I know they'll be comfortable and easy to walk in. I really wanted to do heals, but I'm a total clutz so I didn't think that would be the way to go on the big day.
