Has anyone opened up a bank account just for wedding savings?

We opened a separate checking account. We got money from each of our parents for the wedding so it was easier to put the money in a separate account to pay vendors from.

Me! We put in any extra money that we had (ex birthdays, bonuses, scratch ticket wins) and set up some automatic transfers to add to it. We also redeemed any credit card cash back points to that account.

FH actually did not have a bank account of his own so we set up a joint bank account purposely at a different bank than mine so that we are not tempted to transfer money, etc. The way we do our finances is I pay our bills (rent, my car payment and insurance, utilities... All the bills I had before we were together and he moved in)... We live off his check from one job (food, gas, date nights) and his check from his second job goes straight into our joint account... Which has been a savings account combination of wedding fund and helping out my brother who is going through a hard time... And we took a vacation as well. We are moving in with my brother next month and the money we lent him paid our rent the first 3 months, so I will be putting that money back in our joint account and it will become an exclusive wedding fund!

I just keep track of what’s for the wedding vs savings in one savings account. Basically a spread sheet... it’s only for another 6 months.

No but we should!! It will be easier to put in the money from our parents, tax returns, and monthly savings!

I actually already had a spare checking & savings account. (It was used for my “fun money”...manis/pedis, going out to dinner with friends, etc.) I added him to that account which we are now using for all wedding expenses and then it will become our joint account for bills once we’re married.

I have a savings account just for wedding and one for the honeymoon. Also, have a credit card I use just for the wedding. Plus, I set up a new email for just wedding things. It’s been a life saver to keep everything organized.

We opened a separate savings account for our honeymoon! It's been helpful for direct deposit every month.

Soon after we got engaged, we opened a joint checking account and also a savings account. While the savings is primarily for the wedding, it is also there to cover any unexpected expenses.
