Wedding rings from Etsy??

Sarah, on June 22, 2017 at 11:13 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

I've been on the hunt for my wedding ring (2.5 months to go! Eek!) and multiple friends have directed me to look on Etsy. I am on a budget, and it does seem to skew slightly cheaper. Also, some of the stuff I've found is really beautiful, but I'm anxious that there's no guarantees or quality control from in individual seller (though some of them have hundreds of great reviews). Also, I don't love the idea of buying an expensive ring without being able to try it on with my engagement ring first.

Has anyone bought wedding bands from Etsy before? Thoughts? Is this just a terrible idea?

Thanks all!

I'm not positive yet - haven't found the perfect one, but I'm leaning towards white gold with spaced out diamonds. For some reason, this has proven a bit harder to find than I thought it would be.

I am buying both of our rings from an Etsy seller. The seller I am using does a trial program where he sends the rings in sterling silver first. This allowed me to see it with my engagement ring, and FH to decide on width and final sizing. He credits the cost of the sterling silver version if you buy the final (in our case platinum) and send the SS back. We opted to keep our sterling silver rings so we have something to wear when traveling and such. I wills say, the SS versions were not cheap - and I get it, because frankly he still had to do the whole design. Check to see if the sellers offer something like this or check with each seller on return policy.

I bought my FH's wedding band from etsy and it's awesome! He really likes it and we didn't spend more than $270

FH bought my bridal set from Etsy. He had a great experience with the seller who got it to him on short notice. It's stunning. People love it, and more importantly, I love it. I then turned around and bought his wedding band from Etsy. Again, he's in love with it. My suggestion is to find a seller with a LOT of good reviews. If you're still unsure but you've found something you like, go ahead and message one of the reviewers who have purchased the same thing and ask them if they wouldn't mind telling you about their experience. I've done that before with big purchases on Etsy. Most people are really friendly and wouldn't mind telling you about their experiences.

We bought our rings from Etsy but I plan to just wear a wedding band - not wedding and engagement together. So that made it easier. But we picked a shop with lots of positive reviews and he did a beyond amazing job - mine was custom made.

Thanks all! @Jaylynn - what seller did you use? That SS trial idea sounds really interesting...

My E ring is from Etsy, and I'm planning on using another Etsy shop for wedding band. Read reviews, talk to the seller, ask questions. You'll be able to tell if they're worth working with! We (FH, married friends, and I) haven't had issues with any Etsy ring purchases

We got ours from Staghead Designs who also have a Etsy page. They have wooden rings made from whiskey barrels.

What is your budget? My engagement ring is custom made and we were going to use the same jeweler for our wedding bands, but we went to Robbins Brothers and just ended up getting it there because it was a little easier and cheaper. A micropave band with diamonds going halfway around was about $800 in platinum. I wanted diamonds all the way around so it ended up costing a lot more, but you could probably get something like the one you're looking for in white gold for a decent price.

Bought mine from etsy.. it was just a thin platinum band. Very simple. Got the idea from Mika Kunis haha I really love it, it's very dainty.

Not Etsy, but this ring looks similar to what you wanted and it's from James Allen https://www.jamesallen.com/wedding-rings/womens-diamond/14k-white-gold-3mm-bezel-set-diamond-wedding-ring-item-7177

My FH also bought my set off etsy. MinimalVS is the shop name. It was appraised at over 1K higher than he paid for them. He said her response time was incredible and she mailed quickly. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with etsy!

OP, I saw in the other thread that you're from NYC. James Allen has their store there. They are conflict free diamonds too. My e ring and band are from them and they are amazing! You can even go in but check out their website, they have a pretty big selection for a range of budgets.

I have seen beautiful rings on etsy but I'm like you and would feel hesitant on getting them from there but I am seeing a lot of positive feedback on this.
