Wedding ring doesn't fit (it did before)

Megan, on June 25, 2016 at 6:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

The title says it all, really. When it first arrived in the mail, it definitely did fit very well! But I tried it on again today just for kicks, and I had a really hard time getting it on. I could get it on and off, but it felt really tight! Smiley sad

So...any advice? My wedding is very soon, of course, so I'm not about to get another one. I guess I just wonder if this has happened to anyone else and what they did!

By any chance had you just got done working out or been sweating when you tried it on? My fingers get swollen when I'm hot and sweaty!

    Maybe it's the hot weather?

This is why I ordered my ring 1/2 size bigger. I know my hands swell when I'm hot or using my hands a lot.

    What affects me:

    1) My period

    2) Eating salty foods

    3) The heat

Drink more water, avoid salty, processed, and/or fast foods.

How long have you had it? Did you gain weight since then? Is it hotter now than then? Are you consuming a higher salt diet now?

I second @E-Tex's tips on water consumption and avoiding salty/processed foods.

I don't know where you are but here it's hot as hell. Some days my ring slides all over my finger. Some days I take it off and there's an indent on my finger. Haven't been able to wear it in the heat because my fingers swell so bad. Wouldn't worry too much! Drink lots and lots of water!

Thanks, ladies! It actually is that time of the month right now, so hopefully that explains part of it. I will definitely drink more water as well! (Funny how that is great advice for so may things.)

Did you try it on in colder/winter months? My fingers are probably a half inch smaller in the winter than the summer. Time of day affects it too as well as things pp have stated

I agree with everyone about the heat and water. I had mine resized in the winter and they suggested I get it sized to a 4. I decided to do a 4.5. It's slightly big in the colder months but it's perfect now. It really does make a difference. And definitely water intake. Drink drink drink and it should fit again

I notice my rings range from loose to can barely get the on my finger. The heat, alcohol, and water consumption all seem to impact it the most. I recommend drinking lots of water. Best wishes!

My E-ring goes from "completely tight, no way it's coming off" to "gentle twist and tug slides off" depending on:

    Weather

    Salt intake

    Time of the month

    Excessive use of my hands

    Random no idea why reason

Definitely don't panic. If it fits at any point and is not extremely uncomfortable or too loose at any point- that's your size. You may need to adjust over time and that's (usually) pretty easy.

Your day is almost here- congrats!

My E-ring is like this, right now its so hot and humid it's tight, not uncomfortable but certainly not how it was when i got it sized. Be thankful you have a wedding band lol my wedding is the day before yours and the company I used fucked it up TWICE, for the to figure out the style that I wanted won't work with it. I have a really messed up one that they told me I can use so I can have something while they work on my new one but I'm pretty pissed and may not even use it that day and just use my E-ring

@Becoming a Mrs -- I'm sorry that happened to you! I'm sure your wedding day will be lovely even if you don't have the real "wedding ring." Almost date-twins -- best of luck & congrats! Smiley smile

Fingers swell when it's hot so it may just be that. ..try again in the morning before doing anything to it.

My fingers swell so bad that I can't even wear my engagement ring at times. I've started drinking way more water than I used to. Now my ring twists upside down on my finger. When I'm walking around for longer than 10 mins. It will swell back up. So really just depends.

Agree with everyone! But, do you have a really good quality jeweler you can go to for ideas? I'm considering getting a split shank in mine to help me manage temperature and period fluctuations.
