Wedding reminders

Madeline, on August 15, 2019 at 5:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Is this a thing? I thought about sending a reminder to those that have already RSVP, mainly because 4 people that originally said yes just cancelled. Our wedding is in a month and I’d like to have a final guest number for the caterer. Thoughts?

Not really a thing. Your final headcount should be from your RSVPs. When was the deadline? It shouldn't have been that long ago that guests need a reminder, that's why it's recommended that invitations go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding.

The deadline was actually today. Thanks! I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a thing before doing it lol.

I've never heard of it. Sometimes you just have to eat costs of guests. We had somebody cancel the day after we gave the final number and paid. And a couple no shows the day of.

I did send a reminder but that was like a few days before the wedding and it was really just informational.

It's not really a thing like Catlyn said. But a friendly email to invitees about how excited you are to see everyone on your wedding day and are grateful for all who have sent in their RSVP may help.

Unfortunately things sometimes come up that people can’t make a wedding. At my first wedding, someone ended up in the hospital, someone died, and a couple couldn’t travel due to a hurricane. Stuff happens. Just be thankful those who knew their plans changed let you know, but it would be strange to double check responses from everyone. I like the PP idea of sending an email about timeline or details of the day if you’re worried about it.
