Wedding reception ice cream and cake

evm, on March 19, 2016 at 9:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

I am really hoping to find a vendor that has both wedding cake or cupcakes and ice cream. An ice cream cake might work, but would honestly make things harder due to freezer storage space.

Has anyone had a vendor who would provide both cup cakes and ice cream. Also did you have a person there to serve the ice cream?

I am in northern VA is that helps.

Have you considered having the ice cream provided by your caterer? My best friend had a sundae bar and her caterer provided it. they had a server scoop the ice cream

They have a sundae bar but its not that great, and its $6 per with only ice cream. :/

I am looking into some local ice cream shops now, and seeing what it would be like going outside the caterer/venue.

Our venue does allow us to go external for the desert only. My only concern is keeping it frozen and how to serve it. If we went to Costco or something, we would need to find a person to serve. No sure how to find ice cream servers on yelp/weddingwire. Smiley smile

If you have a self serve froyo place near you, they usually offer caterin for $500ish and you choose 2-3 flavors

If you go outside for the caterer, couldn't that caterer bring the ice cream in at a specified time later in the evening, along with someone to serve it? For example, if dinner is at 7 and dessert will be served at 9, they could bring the ice cream in around 8:30 for set up? Note that this option may wind up being more expensive than just paying the $6/per person for ice cream. Alternatively, you could pay the $6/per person and supply your own toppings that don't require much effort (sprinkles, M&Ms, crushed Oreos, etc.)

Could you ask your caterer what additional cost it would be to serve ice cream when cake was served?
