Wedding Program help....

Private User, on March 19, 2014 at 12:26 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

Hi - trying to put together the program for my wedding... how do i list my sisters fiance who is a groomsmen on the program - note they have been engaged for almost 2 years and they do not have a date set or any real plans made yet. Do i list him as "soon to be brother-in-law of bride & groom" or "fiance of brides sister" my sister is very touchy about the fact that they don't have a date set yet so i don't want to offend her and her fiance or discredit how close we are to him... any suggestions?

Also, we are having a non-traditional non-religious wedding - on the program should i list the schedule of how things are happening - ie: seating of grooms parents; seating of mother of the bride; bridal party procession; welcome; reading of ----; (not sure what to call what to call this part where the officiant talks about us - its not a "homely"); reading of ---; exchange of vows & rings; the KISS; PARTY TIME!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

On my programs, I didn't list any relation of anyone to the bride and groom. I felt it was unnecessary.

I would say Fiance of Bride's Sister if you are doing relationships. I would also do the order of how things are happening.

Could you just write "close friend of the bride and groom"?

    I wouldn't describe anyone actually.

Also, you might want to wait until you have the ceremony written (either by you or by officiant). My officiant wrote ours and I based the ceremony portion of the program off of that.

I would just list him as a groomsman, I don't think you have to list out how each BP member is connected to you.

As for the reading, can it be lumped under the "welcome" portion? If not you could call it "About the couple" or something like that

On my programs I didn't list who everyone was. I just put a title and the names of those who fit that title.

Your ceremony is pretty straight-forward, so you could skip that in the program.

If you keep it in, add "Pronouncement" before kiss.

You can put "Reading from such-n-such book by so-n-so." If it is not attributable, just put "Reading"

I am having a kinda non-traditional non-religious wedding wedding and here's a link to my blog it has my program wording on it. http://countrylacewedding.wordpress.com/diy/inner-part-of-folded-program/ just scroll down and it has my wording. I did relationships on ours like brother in law of the groom and friend of the bride.

Hi date twin! I did list everyone's relationship in my program (that isn't finished yet). That was my own personal preference, I liked the way it looked and I like to be descriptive lol. I would list him as Fiance' of Bride's Sister, I think that's fine

Thank you Jill...It took forever for staples to get it lined up right for printing (I use a mac daddy word and their's was an older version so it went kind of wonky when they took it off flash drive in the store).
