Wedding Postponement

Brittany, on July 1, 2020 at 5:23 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13
Well, after being optimistic and hopeful that COVID would not affect our September wedding, my fiancé and I made the decision last night to postpone our wedding until next year. While we are breathing a sigh of relief (more time to save more money, no more stressing about the virus, etc...) I can't help but feel so incredibly disappointed and upset, and like we are letting down a lot of people. A social distance, mask wearing wedding was just not what we had envisioned for our big day. We want to ensure the safety of our family and friends, so I know deep down this is for the best, but it doesnt make the disappointment I'm feeling any easier.

I know that there are so many other brides in the same position, and feeling the same kinds of feelings as I am. My fellow postponed brides: will you be doing anything the day of your original wedding date?

So sorry you had to postpone!! We also had to postpone our July 2020 wedding. We are planning a weekend get-together with friends for our original wedding weekend. This way, we are still looking forward to the fun plans we have for the original date. I definitely recommend planning something for your original date - a date night with your fiance, spend time with friends, schedule a photo shoot with your photographer, etc.

My fiancé and I postponed our August 2020 wedding to May of 2021. We're planning on having a small courthouse wedding with immediate family the day before (due to weddings only being allowed on Fridays), since our wedding was scheduled for our 10 year anniversary! I think it'll end up working out for the better, because I like the look of stacked wedding bands, and this was one way to get my FH to agree on me having two bands Smiley love

We just postponed our October wedding to next year alsoSmiley sad we are still going to get married this year but not on our original date. We are pushing it back a week so our wedding next year will be our one year anniversary. We are planing our ten person rehearsal dinner on our original date the week before to still celebrate. COVID totally ruined everything but we are trying to make the best of it!

My fiancé and I have just decided today to postpone our fall wedding. I just don’t see this getting any better this year. We’re still debating if we want to get married and then celebrate next year, but I’m worried it will ruin the magical feeling. We’ve been thinking about postponing for awhile now, but today I finally accepted that it was time. Luckily I anticipated this a few months ago and made sure to not put the date on any decorations. I’m just feeling a little down now and feel like the day will never come.

Where was your wedding supposed to be? Like what state. Our wedding is October 25th in FL and reading your post, just got me nervous. We already postponed once, original wedding date was 5-31-20.

Our venue is in Southern California in Riverside. We have the second highest number of cases next to LA! Our venue is also a state park and was required to close from the governor, so there was no budging at all from them. We also have guests coming from 11 other states and no one is comfortable traveling since they are high risk.

Our wedding was scheduled for 9.18.20 in Michigan. Things were looking up for the state, and we were moving in the right direction (in terms of COVID and the state reopening) but cases have been steadily rising, and our venue has yet to reopen.

Postponed our July 2020 wedding to February 2021. We plan on renting a cabin nearby and go hiking that weekend.

We were October 2020 and now October 2021. We’ll probably go to dinner that day, but that’s about it. I’m not really trying to harp on the old date too much and, instead, embracing the new date.

My wedding was supposed to be June 27, 2020. It’s now postponed to June 26, 2021.

On our original wedding day we celebrated by... making pancakes together, doing some wedding planning together, practiced our “first dance”
Then we cooked dinner together and had a fancy table setting at our kitchen table with candles and flowers.
I also baked a cake from scratch with what was supposed to be our exact wedding cake frosting filling and cake flavor. We practiced feeding it to each-other.
Then we watched a movie!!! I was really happy how our day turned out. I’m also super relieved that the day is over and now we can move forward and look forward to new things and our new wedding date Smiley smile

We just postponed out 9/5 wedding to next year. The decision did alleviates lot of the stress, but it is incredibly sad. While we aren’t doing a small ceremony the day of- we weren’t attached to the date- we are going away for a long weekend when it comes. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!

Sorry to hear about your postponement. I think once you get everything secured for a new date, you’ll feel better (because, ultimately, you know you made the best decision for the two of you). We postponed from 10/10/20 to 10/30/21. On the weekend of our original date we’re going on a getaway (still deciding the location.... but somewhere within a few hours driving distance). Best wishes! It will all work out for the best.
