Wedding postponed b/c Covid...

Randee, on July 2, 2020 at 10:10 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5
Should we get legally married before having our wedding???? We were planning to get married May 16, 2020, but obviously COVID didn’t let that happen. I’m currently in school so in order to have a wedding and not have to go to school Monday morning (Buzz kill), we have postponed to May 29, 2021. Feels like FOREVER! We already live together so technically nothing crazy is going to change, but becoming his Mrs. is important to me. Any opinions/advice you have would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

I think that would be a cute way to commemorate your original date

My fiancé and I are legally getting married in October and our wedding isn’t until March 2021. We started dating 10/6/16, got engaged 10/6/19 and we’re legally getting married 10/6/20(a Tuesday) because that’s “our date”. I don’t see anything wrong with wanting to get married first, I mean that is the most important part Smiley heart

I am also in school and I am getting married on 12/19/2020 if everything works out. If COVID prevents the wedding from happening, we are just gonna go to the courthouse and then have a big vow renewal and reception later when it works better with my schedule and people won't get sick. It will be a big wedding over 200, which is why we know it may not happen.

My future SIL was supposed to get married yesterday, the wedding was postponed until March 2021, but they are having a small family-only ceremony next week. I think it’s a sweet way to honor that you we’re planning to be married already, but you still get to have the family celebration later on ☺️

It's totally up to you Randee!! I've seen many couples getting legally hitched now and postponing the reception & big party for later!

There's still so much uncertainty about how long social distancing guidelines and gathering restrictions will be in place, so I think it's nice to at least take care of the legal part of marriage now! Smiley heart
