Wedding Post Pone

The news said there’s supposed to be a 2nd wave of the coronavirus this year in the fall, my wedding is November 14th and I’m sitting here thinking of a back up plan. Are there any brides that are going through this? What did you do? Cancel/Pushed back?

October bride here! And our current plan is to push the big celebration back, get married with just parents and live stream everyone else and then hopefully hold a vow renewal next year.

I'm December and I'm not making any postponing decisions until September/October.

You could make a Plan B now though just in case

I should note that this plan is our plan B but no formal decisions will be made until July

Great idea. Yes we will probably not make a decision until September. We have no plan B though so I will come up with one.

Wedding planned for October! Our plan B is to just cancel but have a small ceremony on our date. Our venue is very reasonable and is allowing us to make a call by the end of August. So we’ll likely see where things are July before we make a decision. Planning has come to a halt tho and not sure when things will open in Jersey

We thought about the video recording and sending it to the rest of family & friends, but my fiancé parents live in Mississippi and I was worried some people wouldn’t travel during the virus. So that would be the only thing I am worried about.

It’s a good idea to have a backup plan, but this virus isn’t going to completely disappear. With the states putting plans in place to gradually reopen, the more likely scenario is that different states experience different fluctuations in people who are testing positive for the virus as they start to interact more normally again. If you live in a more densely populated area (such as New York, etc) cases are going to pop up more frequently than they would if you lived in a rural area of Texas. It’s also hard to know how all the governors will handle these fluctuations in the future. For example, the governor of NY and IL are not even entertaining the idea of reopening until the end of May, while states like Mississippi are gradually beginning to lift restrictions starting Monday. I would suggest to stay updated with what your state is doing and see how things play out over the summer before pulling the trigger on moving to plan B.

Oh that is tough! Maybe set a deadline between you two and know you're going to make a decision one way or the other, including plan B. Like if I was a November bride, perhaps August or Labor Day would be my decision timeframes? Right before it becomes technically fall because officials may cause things to close ahead of the flu season to be prepared so you'll know about 60ish days in advance?
