Wedding Plates

Alexus, on June 9, 2020 at 1:07 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13
So I have found some Harry Potter paper plates that look really neat. Should I use them since my theme is Harry Potter and Star Wars or is that too tacky?

I don’t think that would be tacky if it goes with your theme. The other thing is you could just get plates in the colors of the houses in Harry Potter to make it themed

I would say go for it since it's personal to you as a couple right?

Yes! That's the plan I just read somewhere using paper was tacky.

Ignore them. There's no reason to fulfill a stranger's vision that doesn't fit you or that you can't afford.

I think it depends on the formality of the event. If you're having a ballroom reception with a five-star plated meal, then having the food come out on paper plates could be called tacky, or at least out of place. If it fits with the formality of the event as a whole, then I think it's okay.

Instead of using it for your main course maybe you can use it for your deserts or for your favors, placing candies in a HP cup.

The type of plates you use should match the formality of your event. Mine is fairly casual, we’re going with paper and throw away utensils. Honestly I think I’ve only been to one wedding that didn’t have throwaway dishes, but some used fancier throwaway plates or utensils.

Sounds fun! I found some plates with stars/constellations to go with our celestial theme!

If your wedding is casual and laid back then that's fine but if it's more formal then I would probably skip paper products. Smiley smile

If it makes you smile, then do it. But can I just say I am glad someone sees that Star Wars and Harry Potter are the same story! An orphan, who is the chosen one, and his two best friends (a boy and girl) fight an evil doer using "wands", with the help of wise elders and discover secretes about the Chosen One's heritage.
