Wedding planning while in the military

Anthony, on March 11, 2020 at 5:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 3
Is there anyone here who’s trying to plan a wedding while being active duty military? My fiancé and I are considering eloping due to the fact that we are waiting on mg orders and don’t know when those are going to come or when they will be for. It makes it really difficult to plan something this big, especially in regards to putting a deposit on a site when we don’t know if we are even going to be around when that date comes up. Just looking for advice or experience from anyone who’s been there.

My fiance is Active Duty! We planned our wedding during his required leave of 30 days for moving to a new duty station. Luckily, we knew 7 months before the big day (April) and therefore planned during a time we knew the military couldn't make him come into work. Are you open to the idea of a weekday wedding? We picked a Thursday at our dream venue because there was no way we were getting a weekend wedding.

Shorter planning time book date 9 months out. Check contracts for cancelation policy & talk to vendors. Also an all inclusive venue may be able to do a wedding in less time and be more flexible.

Jennifer, I’m wondering what branch is your fiancé in? I’m in the navy and the required 30 days of leave is something I’ve never heard of. My fiancé and I have discussed the possibility of having our wedding after I transfer to my next location. At this point, we are open to whatever opportunities come up.
