Wedding planning slump

idosoon, on July 10, 2019 at 1:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Exactly 7 months away and I'm drained. I know I'm supposed to be super pumped but it's a lot of work (on top of working full time, taking care of kids and being a full time adult)...

Some things are crossed off of our list but now I can go a week and not even thinking about planning. It's like the initial hype died down...:-/

anyone else feeling the same?

I went through several slumps throughout my year of wedding planning. It's more normal than you think. In fact, it's good to take breaks from planning. Clear/relieve your mind, and simply enjoy being engaged.

We’ve been in a planning slump for a few months now. All of our major vendors were booked around a year out and all that’s going on right now is looking at wedding bands and figuring out what I need to get for DIYs. I’m dying to do more though but I guess I’ll have to wait 😣

I’ve been engaged for 15 months now and I’m so over it. Nothing for me to work on right now, just have to let time pass.

I’ve been planning since January and I’m ready for planning to be done. I love having little mini breaks where I don’t have to make decisions about what color napkins to use, aisle decorations, etc. At this point I just want to be married and have a great party!

Thanks for this. Wasn't sure if it was just me or out of the norm because I see some brides who are super hyped the whole time ....

That may be it also, feels like something should be happening but there's not much to do or things that can be done but would be doing them too early if so.

    Agreed!

I'm at the " I want things to be done" point but I'm enjoying the stress-less week lol

That feeling is normal. We booked a lot of our stuff in the first 9-12 months and then I pretty much did nothing wedding related for the next 5 months. Now we are 4 months out and I'm starting to feel excited about it again, so yeah take a break.

I felt the same way as you! I ended up buying a course that coaches bride how to plan their own wedding from beginning to end (award winning wedding planner) . To be honest (I only bought it because it was a lot cheaper than hiring a wedding planner and it is virtual so I don't have to spend time meeting up with the planner). Got the coaching and it was the best thing ever. I can give you the details if you are interested. Seriously recommend

I don’t forget but everyone else does. It’s so sad like it doesn’t even matter anymore and a lot of people think we’re already married.

That's fine, you're going to hit slumps, embrace them. Take a self-cae day for yourself, sleep in on the weekends, go on a date with your FH. Inspiration and motivation will come back in due time.
