Wedding Planning During Covid?

Regan, on April 2, 2020 at 5:33 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are getting married October 3rd of this year. As of now, we still think our wedding will go as planned. However, I'm concerned on how to finish planning during quarantine. I still need to book a DJ and florist. Also, my biggest issue is my dress. I have found the dress that I want, but we didn't buy it at the time (this was before COVID & we thought we had time). Now I'm worried about having the time to buy my dress and get it altered. I was thinking about ordering my dress online, but I can't find any safe sites to order it from. Does anyone have recommendations? Also, when is everyone making the final decision on whether to postpone their wedding? I assume things will be back to normal, but I'd like to choose a certain time frame to make the final decision!

DJ and florist shouldn't be an issue, you can video chat with them if that's an option. And as for alterations... I don't know about other people but I bought my dress (off the rack) and had all the alterations done within 1 month.

My wedding is Sept 6th, we've decided to make mid-late July the cut off date. (partially because its an out of state wedding and if we can't visit the venue ahead of time we really can't continue planning it). For a local wedding you could probably do a month before, but I would check with your vendors and see what their deadlines are for rescheduling.

Okay thank you! My wedding is in state, but many of his relatives are out of state that we want there (like his grandparents and mother). That's our biggest concern, especially because his grandmother already has difficulty breathing, so we wouldn't want to risk her getting sick. My vendor already reached out to me to let me know that people are cancelling their April & May weddings, so she is allowing others postpone as well, so that won't be an issue if it comes to that (fingers crossed it doesn't!) I was thinking about making the cut off early August/late July, because some guests have to book flights and hotels. I think that may be excessively early also though.

I know some hotels have been letting people cancel and get refunds due to this, so you might check with any that you did wedding blocks at. But yeah, out of state guests does present the problem... it's really hard to know what to do here. Wish I had an answer for that.

But honestly, I'm really hoping this is all done by then, I mean October is quite a ways away. But planning for the worst isn't a bad idea. :/

Did you try on the dress at a bridal store? I would call the store or find an email from them. I already got my dress but follow my bridal shop on social media and they’ve been posting saying they are still available for ordering and to answer any questions, even though they’re closed.
You would probably need measuring tape so you can measure yourself and have them order the right size.

Yeah we're just trying to have a back up plan just in case, because everything is so crazy & we don't know when it will end. Thank you for your help!

If You Can't Order The Dress From A Bridal Store, I Recommend Lunns Or Joybetty. Lunss Will Custom Make A Dress For You From Scratch, You Just Have To Send Them pictures/Ideas. Joybetty Is Decently Priced And Will Make Their Dresses Custom To Your Measurements. As For Postponing, I Dont See That Happening So Dont Stress Until Later On Down The Road. Email/Call DJ's And Florists, Video Call If Its Necessary. Youll Get It Planned. Goodluck. Smiley heart
