Wedding planning during Covid-any tips?

Ashley, on September 15, 2020 at 1:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hey all,

I hope everyone is well! I’m sure many who have gotten married through this time had to not only deal with the stress of wedding planning but also having to plan during the pandemic. My fiancé and I are planning to get married in March, what are some tips you’d recommend for getting married during Covid? I’d appreciate any tips, thank you!

I think it would be good to know cancellation and postponement policies of all your vendors ahead of officially booking

I agree with the previous comments, and would also add to be flexible. Be prepared for things to change based on COVID restrictions, and add a section for COVID on your wedding website to let your guests know about any precautions that you're taking, as well as any restrictions the venue or state are requiring. If there's a chance that you'd postpone due to COVID, avoid putting the date on anything until you're sure it will happen on that date. Otherwise, happy planning!

Oh I love that idea! How does one create a wedding website? Any recommendations? I’ve never done that before 😊

I created mine through The Knot! Wedding Wire also offers them. Since you already have a Wedding Wire account, click on the menu, and go to Wedding Website. You'll be able to set it up through there.

I’d say don’t get stressed about unresponsive guests. It’s about a month out and we still have a third of our guests haven’t decided if they want to come or not because of covid and life right now. Just keep a mantra that everything will work out and repeat over and over. You’ll get through it!

Know your contract, try not to stress too much, and have a wedding website where guests can keep up with information in case things have to change!

Make a Plan B or C in the case you can't have a full wedding on the day. Trust me doing the research and writing down a "what if I can't have a large group" plan takes so much off your shoulders because you have the fall back plan ready if you need it.

Sit down with your FH and figure out if you would do a minimony/elopement with a larger event later, or just postpone? If you do an elopement who will be there? Once you have a clear picture of what both of you are ok with talk to your vendors about it. I'm sure they will be happy to help you out on the details.

Plan for an outdoor event (pavilion tent with fans or heaters depending on weather), no group "traditions" like garter/bouquet toss or participation dances (YMCA or Conga lines), no guest book unless you have enough pens for guests to keep, social bubble seating charts, anticipate thermometer checks, required masks, distancing in bar lines/dance floor...
