Wedding Planning Blues

Erica, on February 28, 2024 at 12:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Am I just really impatient or has anyone else experienced feeling down after you've already planned all the main details and now it's just the waiting game??

It feels so far away, but so close at the same time. Smiley sad I feel like I should be really excited (and I am!!!!), but I also feel bored - like "okay what do I do now?" Maybe this is just a result of expectations vs. reality. I don't really know. A little over 2 months to go... and I'm sure the time will fly by, but I'm looking for a little reassurance to know that I'm not alone or any kind advice you have about how to get over this feeling (or view the waiting game differently!!)

If you have experienced this... how did you overcome it? (did you overcome it?)

If you haven't experienced this... what advice would you give a friend who told you she was feeling this way? Smiley smile

Totally normal. I had very few wedding things todo between finnishing vendor contracts 8 months in advance, until 1 month before the wedding.
Wedding planning/day dreaming is now taking up 60% of my brain space now that I'm getting married in 3 weeks.
What I did during this slow period is look at your to do list, and deterimin what can't be done yet and why. Once you and your partner have done every thing you can, put a date on when to follow up with the things you can't do.
Once you have done that, work on something else. I watched Netflix with my mom on discord, studied a forgien language on my phone, and played video games with my FH. Rest so you'll be ready when you need to. When you hit the date on your spreadsheet, to do list, calender or google doc you'll be ready.

Totally normal. I was a previous planner & I've basically got the next 10 years of my life planned soooo ... Kidding. Kind of Smiley winking Anyway, after he officially asked me to marry him, I literally had the majority planned in a weekend. It was just fine tuning details after that. I've been done for a couple months but periodically I think of one little thing here or there that could make the reception more perfect so I pick up a thing or two here & there. We are married in 22 days & there's really nothing left to do but pay for the Air BnB when the date comes & pay the photographer & officiant the day of. I've been getting facial, fillers, tried hair styles only to find nothing worked so really there's not much left except set up the day before & we do the day of!
