I REALLY REALLY (can’t stress this enough) REALLY want a wedding planner just like Jennifer Lopez was with Matthew McConaughey in “The Wedding Planner” (minus the stealing my further husband part) 🤪 I currently live in Grand Rapids, MI but my wedding will be in Chicago, IL. I don’t know if I should be looking in chicago or grand rapids for a planner. My concern is that one of them will know the area well but can’t really be invested in the wedding because of distance and the other one will be near me and invested in the wedding but not know the area well.

I would suggest one in the area of the wedding since they should know more about reliable vendors. They should be fairly attentive when it gets closer to your wedding date too. We have one for our DW in Mexico since they speak the language fluently and know all of the vendors we could possibly need and have been great to work with once we got closer to our date (the last 6 months or so).

I had a full service wedding planner. Definitely in the location of your wedding as you want them to be familiar with vendors in that area!

That's the beauty of the internet. Makes communication a lot easier. Definitely look for one in Chicago! I live there but were getting married in NJ/DE and I've been able to call or email our DOC as necessary.

Agree with everyone else get one in Chicago, you want reliable vendors working your wedding.

Yes, I would totally agree with PPs to book a planner in Chicago. Use the WW vendor list referenced above. I found that the cost for these was anywhere from $3K-10K for FULL SERVICE.
