Wedding Planner from Hell

Kathy, on September 2, 2011 at 12:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

My wedding is in two weeks and actually just found out about this site from my new wedding planner a week ago. I hired a planner since March and as we started the planning process, I have come to the realization that she was full of **#$*#$*. I ended up finding vendors that were more within my budget. I find out she was trying to charge an extra $100 in the prices the vendors quoted so she can keep it for herself. I have found out a number of things she lied about. A month left and we have a scene in front of the venue owner and my florist. She was trying to charge an extra $800 for her staff to work on day off and this was never agreed upon originally. I told her we were not paying that and she basically said "you can do your own wedding". It's been over 2 weeks, never heard from her and she has a list of guests that RSVP's but that's ok, I've contacted my guests to confirm. I hope other brides do not go through this. Do references and don't believe everything you're told.

That sucks. Quickly check with all of you vendors to make sure they are up to speed and on task. She might try to screw you over - unprofessional! Also, did you pay her or vendors directly? And check your contract with her so you can get some of the money back.

    Good luck!

Thanks. She doesn't do contract, just invoices. She charged me a flat rate, don't understand why she charges mileage and other fees like staff. Most of the vendors I dealt with myself and I took care of those that she was paying directly and I paid her for them. I plan on acting on this after the wedding. People shouldn't be scammed like this. It's a horrible feeling.

Rule number one: Get a contract. If they don't do contracts, you don't do business. That way you avoid the scam. Thanks for posting. Hope everything works out Ok for you!

HOLY CRAP! What a money grubbing *beep*!! Had your new wedding planner been able to smooth things over with the vendors? I'm so sorry, how horrible.
