Wedding planner advice

Stacey, on July 18, 2021 at 10:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
I am torn about whether or not I should hire a planner. The venue I chose includes food, photography, dj and decorations. The lady that runs the place said she will do some day of stuff, like keeping things running on time and working with those vendors. I asked her if she thought I would still need one and she said no. I'm nervous because there are still a lot of other vendors that will need to be included. I don't have a huge budget, but I also don't want to be stressed. Any input is greatly appreciated!

I would 100% hire a DOC. My venue promised the same things and talked me out of a DOC, saying it was unnecessary based on what they provided. One of my big wedding regrets.

It sounds like you're asking if you need a DOC rather than a planner. Contrary to Kylie's experience, the owner of the venue we used for my daughter's wedding did a beautiful job of working with vendors and having the day run smoothly to where a DOC was not necessary.

The venue coordinator often promises the world. But they rarely meet that level of expectations. It’s just not the same as having a good and experienced wedding planner. I always say “good and experienced” because all of them aren’t.

If I could start over, I'd hire a planner. Even if you go with a DOC vs. a planner, ask yourself how much work and stress you can handle. Then increase that amount by 30% for the human condition lol
